A Trip Across the Golden State

Some places to visit in the Golden State

California is filled with nice and beautiful places. California is humongous with a whopping 163,696 mi² of beauty. It is also the 3rd biggest state in the U.S right behind Texas and Alaska. We are going on a road trip to some places in CA. We are going to all 4 regions: Coastal, Desert, Valley, and Mountain of California. So get packing and let's ride!!!!! You will start at LAX.

This is a map of CA.

The coastal region is just one of California’s 4 regions. The general climate in the North is cold and rainy at about an average temperature of 52 degrees, whilst the South is almost the opposite, being warm, dry, and humid at an average temperature of 64 degrees. The coast stretches 800 miles along the Pacific Ocean with two island groups:Farallon in the North: Channel Islands in the South and two natural bays:San Francisco Bay and the San Diego Bay(all the other bays are man-made). The Pacific Ocean is home to many animals as well. The Coastal region is also home to several types of plant species. For example, in the North, we have specifically redwood. And all over, there are kelp, salt marshes, and mangroves. Some of the indigenous people of the coast include:Chumash, Luiseno, and Yurok. The Chumash hunted and fished in the South, while the Luiseno hunted and gathered seeds, insects, and grasses. In the North, the Yurok built large canoes out of hollowed logs to fish and travel the ocean. In conclusion, the Coastal region spans 800 miles of the western part of California and houses a variety of diverse plants and animals.

The second region of California, the desert is towards the southeast of the Golden State. The region is scorching hot, very dry, and very, very, very less rain. In fact, every year, there is only 6 inches of rain. That’s about the size of an adult thumb. There are also a lot of sandstorms. The way the region looks is also different. It is very mountainous, very yellow due to sand, and most people feel like it goes on forever. The desert is home to many animals and plants, such as cacti, rats, scorpions, sagebrush, snakes and many more. Tribes like the Mojave and Yuma farmed in the desert land. They also traded. The desert is 25,000 square miles along south-eastern side of California and is home to a vast amount of plants and animals.

Another one of California’s regions, the valley region is between Sierra Nevada to the east and the Coastal Ranges to the west. Not as hot as the desert yet not as hot as the coastal side, the valley region of California is pretty hot. Around 100F. The land is pretty flat with some hills and mountains but other than that, nope. Not really anything. The valley region also has a lot of animals. For example, deer, cattails, rabbits, willows, and many more. Tribes like Maido, Midow, and Yukot survived by finding whatever natural sources were there. If you like astounding forests or rare animals or if you love agriculture, then this just may be your kind of place.

The mountain region is towards Northern California and stretches all over the east side of Central Valley. The climate really either depends what place in the region you are or sometimes, it is unpredictable. But on all of the mountains, one thing is for sure. It would be colder the higher you go. The mountain region is very mountainous and hilly. There are many mountain animals. Some include hedgehogs, snakes, lions, and many more. Tribes like the Nisenan lived at the feet of the mountains. One of the main sources of foods was acorns. If you like to hike on towering mountains or you’re a geologist or scientist trying to explore or you just want fun with your family by skiing, snowboarding and many other things, then get your briefcase and start packing! You’re in for some fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
