Another attraction in California is the Golden Gate Bridge. Golden Gate Bridge is not only an iconic landmark but also an engineering marvel. It was termed as "impossible" to build but engineers made it possible within reasonable cost and time. Opened in 1937, this 1.7 miles bridge was the biggest in the world until 1994. Back then, it cost only $0.50 to cross the entire bridge. On average, the Golden Gate Bridge serves about 112,000 vehicles, 10,000 pedestrians, and 6,000 bicycles daily. Golden Gate Bridge is an overall wonderful place to visit.

It would cost about $7.50 if you went between July 1st, 2020 to July 1st, 2021. Every year on July 1st, the toll rate goes up and extra $0.25.

History

Golden Gate Bridge was first suggested in 1869 by Joshua Norton, who became known as Emperor Norton. He died in 1880. It took more than 50 years before someone named Joseph Strauss funded for the Golden Gate Bridge and finally started building. They started building on January 5, 1933 and finished on April 19, 1937. They did some final checks before being officially opened on April 19, 1937.

Materials

The Golden Gate Bridge was made out of steel. The builders also used 100,000 gallons of red paint.
