My full name is London Mariah Skyy Franklin. Ever since I was little, I've loved writing and drawing. Spending my afternoons after swim or piano practice or school in my living room crafting (very) short stories accompanied by poorly drawn illustrations, I found comfort in my ability to create something unique out of thin air. Later, I auditioned for Bak Middle School of the Arts for Visual Arts. In my 7th Grade year there, I took Journalism 1 as an elective with only one other 7th grader in the all-6th grader class. That year, I learned that my affliction for writing spanned beyond creative writing and into journalism, where I learned the basics of what it means to be a good journalist and began writing stories. I loved having free reign to create entertaining and meaningful pieces while still informing, and I continue to carry this love with me today. The following year, I skipped 8th grade and became a 9th grade Pre-Law student at Inlet Grove Community High School, taking Debate, Constitutional Law, and Criminal Justice classes in my two years there. Despite no longer taking a journalistic course, my affinity for writing did not falter as throughout my sophomore year I helped write stories for my school's news site. I am now currently in my Junior Year of high school at Alexander W. Dreyfoos School of the Arts as a communications major, taking debate and creative writing, and a coverage writer on The Muse, Dreyfoos' Newsmagazine. I joined The Muse because I love amplifying voices and sharing stories that otherwise would go untold. Having the opportunity to create and disperse enticing and enlightening human interest stories or helpful guides is one of my absolute favorite aspects of journalism. On The Muse, I am not only encouraged to do so but given the tools and assistance to do it the best I possibly could.
Passions and Hobbies
When I'm not chasing deadlines or writing a new story, you can find me practicing speeches and debating, baking desserts, or drawing. I often spend hours on end writing, researching, and practicing new speeches and legislations for upcoming Congressional Debate tournaments. In my downtime, I binge-watch my favorite TV shows and sketch in my art book. Despite no being a visual major, I still set aside time to practice as a creative outlet.

Future Goals
My biggest goal is to become a District Attorney. I've always had an interest in law (hence the two years as a pre-law student), and whenever I picture my future, I see myself as a successful attorney who upholds law and order while protecting her community and ensuring that there is justice wherever there is wrongdoing. As a district attorney, I will aim to champion reform, hold those accountable who harm others, and build trust between the government and the public. I will fight for justice while remaining compassionate and empathetic to the lives impacted by the legal system. I plan to do pre-law throughout college and minor in communications until I enter law school. I truly believe that the abilities that I have and will continue to gain from communications is limitlesss in its application in law. The most important thing my parents ever taught me is that I am equipped to obtain whatever goal I set for myself, as long as I maintain determination and passion. Going forward, I hold this value close when I imagine the future I know is destined for me.
