When an entire school community reads the same book, the buzz and excitement enhances literacy. Reading a book together brings the added joy of building and expanding a sense of community among students, parents, teachers, and staff – and beyond. Every student, staff member and family will be encouraged to read the selected books, every month.

As we emerge from this global pandemic experience, we want to be intentional about bringing healing in our community and focusing on building authentic friendships. We are cultivating a culture that is focused on love for the diverse lived experiences that exist in our community. By choosing texts about populations that have been historically marginalized, we are modeling for students an awareness of the value of every human being.
We hope One School, One Book can be a beautiful way for our entire community to connect. As we work towards meeting our NTPS District goal of K-12 Ethnic Studies, this projects can help families and teachers understand the purpose of the Social Justice Standards and Ethnic Studies and the outcomes they will foster in our community.
