Movies You Have Been Waiting For!

by Aishani Misra

We’ve been stuck indoors during the pandemic, and we have to make the most out of it. Finding good entertainment is hard, but lucky for you, many new movies are set to release this year. Some of these might even be released in theaters, and others on their designated streaming platforms.

The first movie on this list is for all the Marvel fans out there. Disney is releasing Black Widow, featuring Scarlett Johanson, on the big screen again to play the main role. The movie is a prequel set before the events of the movie Infinity War. It tells us the origin story of Natasha Romanoff (A.K.A Black Widow) long before she joined the Avengers. Natasha is given to the KGB, where she is trained to become a secret operative. On her trail is the government, who is in pursuit of Natasha in order to murder her. It will be fun to see the Marvel universe story unfold even more. Disney will release Black Widow on May 7, 2021.

Next on the list is the live-action version of 101 Dalmatians: Cruella. Set in London, Cruella shows the world of punk fashion in the 1970s. Emma Stone will be playing young Cruella De Vill. The original movie was introduced in 1961, and the success was nothing short of amazing. People want to see if this remake will be a hit just like the first one. Disney will be releasing the movie in cinemas on May 28, 2021.

The ninth installment of the action-packed series Fast and Furious (Fast and Furious 9) is set to air on May 28, 2021. Unlike all the previous movies, this movie will be released with Universal Studios. The main character, Dominic Toretto, will be played by Vin Diesel. Toretto and his crew fight the world’s best assassin and high-profile driver—not to mention his own brother, Jakob. The estranged brother will be played by John Cena.

In 1984, the first-ever Ghostbusters movie came out. Now, the newest movie in this humorous franchise, Ghostbusters: Afterlife, is set to come out on June 11, 2021. Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Annie Potts, Sigourney Weaver, and Ernie Hudson are reported to have reprised their roles from the original movie. Stranger Things star Finn Wolfard will also be joining to play Trevor’s role in this new motion picture. The movie portrays a family that has moved to a new town and realizes that they are connected to a past of ghostbusting. It will be amusing watching the new comedy picture.

For just a little more entertainment, here are some other movies that will be released this year. Raya and the Last Dragon (March 5th), Venom: Let There Be Carnage (June 25th), Minions: the Rise of Gru (July 2nd), Jungle Cruise (July 30th), West Side Story (December 10th), Spiderman 3 (December 17th), Cinderella (featuring Camilla Cabello, July 16), and many more.

As far as movies go, it seems this year of 2021 will bring us great entertainment!
