My Favorite Things

By Amalia A.

Hello, my name is Amalia, and this is ‘My Favorite Things’ project. Although I have only lived for 11 years I have been on my own adventures, have a few hobbies, and have played a few sports.

I grew up in Davis, California. I lived there until I was around seven and a half years old, I moved to being a military kid. I was taken out of school for a while because my mom and stepdad didn’t know when we would move. After around a quarter of the school year, I finally moved to England and joined a school in the middle of the year. When I was in third grade I was still living in England and then I became a big sister to the cutest, most annoying, baby brother. I lived there for one more year making a total of two and a half years. After those years I moved again to San Antonio, Texas where I live now.

One of my favorite hobbies is baking. I got hooked on baking because of my grandparents. My grandparents owned a bakery, and I basically grew up there, it was a home to me. The bakery was named Konditorei, it was an Austrian bakery because that is what my grandpa specialized in (he is a master baker). I also enjoy drawing, which is why I signed up for art at DATA. I like to do it in my free time, and I also love the fact that everyone has their own unique way to draw which to me makes it just makes it more beautiful for me. One of my last hobbies is reading and to my friends I’m famous for. In elementary school, at recess I would bring a book with me and read, that’s the only thing I would do besides talk to my friends a little bit. Those are all my hobbies.

I wouldn’t think of myself as a sporty type of person, but I do play some sports and I enjoy it as well. The first sport I played was tennis and I would play it with my grandpa and my mom. I would usually only play for fun but then my mom enrolled me into a tennis camp, and I preferred to only play for fun. Then around the same time I was introduced to soccer and badminton. My mom bought badminton rackets and birdies and we played near our house on a field (this is when I was living in England). My mom then enrolled me in soccer. At first, I was mad at her because I didn’t want to play soccer but over time, I got good at it and started liking it. I then stopped playing for a bit but then I got back into it after I moved to Texas. And those are all the sports I’ve played.

I enjoyed making this and I hoped you enjoyed reading this. I also hope you have a wonderful day and hope to write another writing piece like this.
