In our 3D modeling unit, we used Sketch Up for Schools and Blender. We animated our Simple House and we made modern art. This is how I made them and animated them...
This was our first grade in the 3D Modeling Unit. We used specific dimensions to make the cubes and stacked them on top of each other to make a stack of cubes. Even though this process looks easy, there are some things you have to do to ensure an even stack. While moving the cubes you can´t just grab a cube and drag it, you have to use the red, blue, and green axis to make sure you get to the right spot.
This is my unpainted Simple House in Sketch Up. We made this using the rectangle tool and using precise dimensions. We also used the offset tool and the pull/push tool to make the lining of the house and to make the door. I used the rectangle tool to make the windows. Which, one of the requirements are that there needs to be a window on all of the walls. All these components together, make my Simple House.
This is a detailed view of my simple house. From this angle you can see the different layers that I made with the push/pull tool. This image was used as a grade, since this image really shows the detail that was put into this. That is why Mr. Hick's requested this image.
This is my painted simple house in Sketch Up for Schools. First, I colored the house with flat colors as the base. Then, I textured the house using the different materials Sketch Up offers. I used Mexican roof tiles for the roof, brick for the walls, marble for the outline of the windows, and finally a wood for the base boards.
I took these PNG´s in Sketch Up using transparency so that the images can blend in with any color background. These images include the detailed view and the full house colored completely.
This is the detailed view in blender, in which you can see the detail put into the house, the shadows, and coloring. We took these pictures moving the camera to different positions. Then we exported these images to my Output folder.
This is my painted modern art sculpture. I went with more of an orange and yellow pallet by using the different colors/shades of orange and yellow Sketch Up offers. I used the cones on my sculpture to make sort of a gradient from orange to yellow. I used the transparency setting similar to the simple house to make these PNG´s blend with the background.
This is the top view of my sculpture in Sketchup. This view is really bright, therefore not being good at showing off my model. This is why the Blender images are better
This is my modern art sculpture picture exported to Blender. With shading and different angles, you can really see the sculpture in its full glory. This is the side view of my sculpture. From this view you can see the different dimensions that I put in Sketch Up.
This is the top view of my sculpture. From this view the cones look like a gradient and the sculpture almost looks flat (my friend said it looks like slices of pie). These two images are the images that we turned in to Mr. Hicks.
This is my 100% 10 second Simple House video. This video uses three keyframes to make it turn and turn back. One keyframe locks the beginning position, the second makes it turn, and the third keyframe turns it back. All these components make my video.
This video is the animation made in Blender. This animation took the keyframes used in the simple house and other keyframes to look above the sculpture make this video come to life. This video helps the viewer look at the detail of the sculpture.
This concludes the 3D Modeling Unit of Multi Media. The next unit is Android Apps. In the Android Apps unit we will be making a custom app, using MIT App Inventor.
