This is my core classes page, here I'll talk about my core class, Math, Elar, World culture, and Science. I'll also speak about the teachers and what kind of work they give.
This is my core classes page, here I'll talk about my core class, Math, Elar, World culture, and Science. I'll also speak about the teachers and what kind of work they give.
First, math, Math is my first period because I am in HAM (hyper accelerated math) So we learn higher grade math and we go through our units faster than the normal honors classes. As a DATA student all my core class are honors. We are currently in our last unit, simple and compound interest and we are already almost done with it, It was two lessons and now we practice the steps.
Second, ELAR, ELAR is my second period, I really struggle with ELAR but our teacher, Mr. Wayment, makes it make a little more sense than elementary school did. We are currently going over/reviewing our work from other days, and making sure we fully understand everything. In ELAR, we made and wrote many stories!
Physical challenges
In the book, Hatchet, by Gary Paulsen, the 13-year old protagonist, Brian, goes through many hardships, including but not limited to, crashing in a plane, a moose attack. Brain must learn how to survive. Growing somewhat confident after surviving many natural disasters Brain finds the plane tail in the lake, reaching it and a emergency radio. Though my life is not this bad, I have faced physical struggles in my life as well.
Brain’s story begins with saying goodbye to his mother, getting on a plane and flying to Canada, crashing into the Canadian wilderness, crashing into a L shaped lake. And learning how to survive the wild, Brian becomes a reformed boy, no longer a normal 13 teen year old who loves hamburgers. After surviving many months Brain taunts nature saying, ”Come on … is that the best you can do? Is that all you can hit me with– a moose and a tornado? … Well that won't get the job done.”
Turning towards my side of this story; in the 5th grade I went over to my bestfriend's house, Alyssa, we had some food in the kitchen, then I just fell. I was brought to an ER and was emitted to the childrens hospital, for a conconsion, and stayed in the hospital for one night.
To conclued, Though the scenarios are different they have some similarities as well.
We both faced a painful experience and grew from it. I learned to always care for my surroundings and Brian learned a lot of wildlife tools and most likely some PTSD due to his experience. Brain and myself have faced many many physical struggles, learned from it, been taught by it, and grew from it.
Removal of phones
Do you wonder why teachers allow their students to have their phones out during class. They can be interrupting, causing bullying, and causing fights to occur. Students can miss out on learning and fun because they are sucked into the world of the media.
Students bully others; it's a fact of school, and it won't go away with taking away phones, but cyberbullying will be less of a problem if the main way to access the internet at school is taken away. Phones are one of the main ways that cyberbullying is produced. Photos and videos of fights are also captured and spread via phones, this causes mockery and bullying.
Phones during school cause learning distractions and interruptions. Students may go onto Tik Tok or Instagram, and not be involved during learning. They may also put in airpods and blast music, this negatively affects the students' learning but also the health of their ears. Susie Mobayed, principal of Condell Park High School, has also shown lots of support for a ban of phones, “[There is] no room for cyberbullying, social media or taking photos and videos during the school day,"
Phones may increase the chances of fights. Students can find each other's phone numbers and have a conversation that follows the lines of, “I'm gonna jump you, come to the AP bathrooms.”
These conversations end with a fight, almost always. Students can also communicate where they will skip with their friends using a phone.
They could have the option of turning their phone in or keeping it in their bag during the school day as many students do. As you can see from real-world evidence the issue is phones during school, phones during class. So I believe that students should not be allowed open access to their phones during the school day.
would you imagine that you would have to deal with an underground monster while no one else knew you were dealing with it? That's my situation, but first, introductions. My name is Olivia and I found it. I was inside when I heard it, it was a loud, low rumbling noise. No one but me seemed to hear it!
It turned out that that noise was the Bikeraiapuntatomonogastmonostomatduodent, the underground monster who I thought was a myth! At first, I thought the noise was the automobile, but it wasn’t on. I checked outside, only to find my little sister playing in the backyard. I turned back to the house as soon as I left it. I was against playing today. After that close call, I checked out front, seeing nothing as well.
I turned to head back inside, but there that noise was again. Low, loud, and rumbling, I was growing bored of waiting. “Where is that coming from!“ I yelled, only to hear nothing in response. I was done with this cat and mouse chase, stomping back into the house and slamming the door behind me. But I was determined to find out what caused that noise.
I woke up the next morning with the same low, loud, rumbling noise. It was driving me insane! At this point I would have paid for it to stop. Honesty, I thought I had lost my mind, But I decided to check on the front lawn one more time. “What is that?“ I spoke to myself, watching in disbelief as the ground began to form a crater, a large one. As it rose the noise began to fade, at first, low, loud, and rumbling, then softer and softer. But the rumbling never seemed to fade away.
“Is that?“ I ask, seeing the orange... blob of a monster emerge from underground. To my surprise, it spoke back, just a simple response, “Hello.” it said, voice rippling. I walked toward it, the monster behaved as if it were jelly. I yell again, but not out of fear “The lawn! you're destroying it!“ I took a step forward, then backward, debating what to do. I ended up deciding to sprint into the jelly monster, and it felt like a life sized jelly blob! It was incredible.
So, if you even heard a noise that was driving you mad, it may just be an unknown blob saying hello!
Third, World cultures, World cultures is my fourth period, and the teacher, Mrs. stubbins, is a hard but fair teacher! She keeps you on task and focused. She barely gives homework, and the work is self explanatory for the most part. She always answers her emails, and gives you time to catch up if you fall behind. She is the kind of teacher who wants every kid to pass her class.
Fourth, Science, science is my filth period, and is taught by Mr.Kelly and his counterpart, Mr.Jelly. We learn many things in science, like earth systems and the earth's different spheres. Mr. Kelly is usually laid back.
