Here I will show some of the things I´ve done in my core classes right now I will show my essay on the book hatchet in my ELAR class.
Divorced
In the book Hatchet by Gary Paulsen, the protagonist brian is traveling to see his father.
Some struggles I’ve had are my parents being divorced. My parents divorced because they had their own differences they needed to work on themselves at. The reason this is a struggle for me is because it can cause confusion, when it is time for one of my parents to pick me up and take me home.
In Brian’s experience his parents divorced because his mother cheated, However in my experience my parents divorced civilly and are still friends. For brian his mother wants to ask what’s wrong with what he’s feeling asking “Can’t we talk this over? Can’t we talk this out? Can’t you tell me what's bothering you?” because he knew his mother cheated.
Although brian and I’s experiences are very different it is still a struggle we both faced but my attitude is very different from brian’s because he is upset and even hurt by the divorce I however, am not as upset by the divorce because the divorce happened when I was a baby or somewhere around that age. Also, my parents are still friends and I still see them often, and I am okay with the divorce.
Uniforms
Uniforms have always existed and at times are not helpful. I think that schools should not have uniforms and a fairer dress code. Some examples: Most schools require that a student should always wear the same colored shirt and pants every day. Schools have also required uniform skirts to be at or below the knee minimum and I feel that's a little too restrictive because skirts that are too long can cause problems like the skirt getting caught on other objects . Personally I think if girls want to wear skirts they should be at least a quarter to the mid thigh and no less. Unfortunately some schools like religious schools even force girls to wear skirts and can’t wear pants at all.
On the topic of the same clothes everyday school uniforms are very expensive and you need to buy five pairs for one week. It's roughly $25-$100for one pair and they need to buy those on top of the normal clothes they wear outside of school. School uniforms don’t change size either but the child does so they would need to buy more uniforms throughout the year or even semester. Schools also change the color of the uniform per grade level so even if the child did fit in their old uniform they would still need to buy new clothes to match the grade level.
Uniforms very much lack the creative flair and it causes the child to not have a sense of creativity. With uniforms all being the same children will not be able to design themselves how they want to look because that has already been decided for them. Also, uniforms not only lack creativity but also are not the most flattering at all. They are often the same dull blue or color of that school and often wash out other colorful designs.
Many students, especially girls, think dress codes and uniforms are discriminatory against them because boys are allowed to wear the same or more revealing clothes and they receive little to no punishment. Whilst girls get suspended for wearing a tanktop. Many girls find this unfair as this is blatantly ¨sexist¨ towards girls.
In my opinion school uniforms have always made students look like robots anyway and that’s weird. This is why I believe that school uniforms should not be put in place.
