The JROTC Drill Team is a marching unit that performs routines based on military drill. Cadets can perform either armed or unarmed drill during opening ceremonies by presenting the National Colors at home varsity football and basketvall games, community service commitments, musical activities, honor organizations, and they participate in local parades by marching with the battalion.
The Color Guard performs opeing ceremonies by presenting the National Colors at home varsity football and basketball games, community service commitments, musical activities, honor organizations, and they participate in local parades by marching with the battalion.
The Honor Guard is a ceremonial unit, comoprised of highly motivated individuals that maintain exceptionally high standards of appearance and conduct and show aptitude for ceremonial duty.
The Raider team is the most physically demanding extracurricular activity in JROTC. Motivation, discipline, physical fitness, team work and leadership is a must for a well-rounded Raider team. Members are chosen for our teams based on Merit. Events take place oudoors and usually consist of individual stregth test (push-ups, tire-drag, obstacle course, distance running events, first aid events and some form of rope bridge construction and crossing.
JROTC cadets are responsible for raising and lowering the flag every day and every afternoon at Muhlenberg County High School. It takes a minimum of three cadets to raise and lower the flags each time. One cadet acts as the detail commander.
JROTC Cadet Leadership Challenge (JCLC)
JCLC is a cadet Summer leadeship camp sponsored by the U.S. Army Cadet Command and conducted at the Wendell H. Ford Regional Training Center. Over 1200 JROTC cadets from all branches of military service and multiple states will gather and participate together. JCLC is a leadership camp, that uses basic military customs, courtesies and disciplines to insitll skill and techniques that will benefit cadets in the classroom and in life. Cadets, are organized into a Brigade, Companies and assigned leadership positions. Cadets are evaluated and receive feedback on their leadership perfomance. Activities include, Drill and Ceremony, Physical Fitness Test, Obstacle Course, Land and Water navigation, One Rope Bridge, Rappelling and more.
