IDENTIFY CONCERNS
Students in our school district struggle with budgeting, identifying wants and needs, and savings.

ACT
Our first step was deciding the focus of our video, aiming to create something useful for both ourselves and a broader audience. After some brainstorming, we agreed that a lesson on the basics of budgeting would benefit other students at our school. To make the video fun and engaging, we chose a “Mean Girls”-inspired 2000s movie theme, believing it would resonate well with our target audience. The video shows two girls and their different views of how wants and needs fit into a budget. Once the script was complete, we planned the filming process, outlining shots and gathering props and supplies. On the scheduled day, we filmed and carefully edited the footage to ensure it was high-quality and impactful. Finally, we developed a website to present our lesson and share key information.
FOLLOW UP
In this step, we reflected upon each component of this project and took pride in a job well done. Our video will now be used in classes that are learning about budgeting and saving money. We hope that it can be used as a fun tool that our peers can relate to.
