Welcome to Burton Elementary! My name is Melinda Fuchs, and I am honored to serve as the principal of our amazing school.
As a proud Burton High School graduate (Class of 1996), it is especially meaningful to serve the community that helped shape who I am today. My educational journey began at Blinn College before earning my Bachelor of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from Texas A&M University in 1999. I later earned a Master's Degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University in 2006 and completed my principal certification through Sam Houston State University in 2007.
For the past 27 years, I have had the privilege of serving Burton ISD in a variety of roles, including teacher, counselor, and now principal. Throughout my career, my passion has remained the same—to create a safe, supportive, and engaging learning environment where every student is encouraged to reach their full potential.
Outside of school, I enjoy spending time with my family. I am blessed to be married to my wonderful husband, Luke, and I am especially proud to be the mother of two Texas A&M University graduates. I also believe in being a lifelong learner and continually seek opportunities to grow both personally and professionally.
At Burton Elementary, we believe in the power of teamwork. Our campus theme, "One Team, One Vision: Unlocking Potential, Inspiring Excellence, Achieving Greatness," reflects our commitment to working together to ensure every child is successful. I am grateful to lead alongside an exceptional team of educators and to partner with our incredible students, families, and community.
Thank you for being a part of the Burton Elementary family. I look forward to another outstanding year as we learn, grow, and achieve greatness together!
