Multiple bills are moving through the legislature this session that would criminalize gender-affirming health care for transgender youth experiencing gender dysphoria.

For a long time now, the Texas bail system has been criticized for keeping people in jail just because they can’t afford bail. After murder rates started going up and a police oficer died in a shooting on Thanksgiving day in 2017, some Texas legislators were persuaded to rewrite rules for pretrial release. The bills proposed have not succeeded in the past and some of them are now being reintroduced this session.

As of March 29, every person in Texas over the age of sixteen is eligible for the Covid-19 vaccine. State health officials announced this on March 23, and hearing about this part of the progress of the vaccine brought joy and relief to many people.
