ethics in media

1- Kobe Bryant's Past:

I think there should be a limit to truth telling because sometimes the truth can be to much for people. I am one to believe that yes, the truth hurts, but in some occasions the truth can be to descriptive and graphic. I think it is best to keep some things concealed and only put out the main idea.

I do not think this was ethical considering the case had already been closed, and at some point others need to move on.

2- A suspect "confession"

I think that if you are trying to keep someone safe or trying to solve an unsolved case it would be ok to break confidence. In this case the journalist was only trying to help.

I think this was an ethical news story because it does not go to far into depth and yet still tells the story without overstepping believes.

3- When sources wont talk:

If a editor wants to remain fair they need to hear from both sides of the story and make sure verything is facts and not opinions. If the editor gives opinions it can cause un fairness from the host of the party and the people feeling criticized.

I do think it would be ethical to have this story, but to also get both sides of the story. If you only get one side of the story it can go against people and give false information.
