On the 4th June, we had the opportunity to visit our government buildings Leinster House/Dáil na hÉireann and the National Library. We had a look around the National Library and did a W.B. Yeats trail in the exhibition on display there. We were then treated to a tour of the government buildings and had the opportunity to see the chamber in which the government sits and the Seanad. A day to remember!
On the 31st March, we got the opportunity to visit the Westmeath Councty Council buildings. We got a tour of the buildings and got to host our own Student Council meeting in the 'Meeting Chamber'. A very enjoyable trip!
As a result of our Student Council/Creative Schools Bake Sale in February, we used the funds raised to purchase Outdoor Games for the school. Chess, Draughts, Snakes & Ladders, Ludo and Balance boards were purchased. We had fun setting them up and testing them out!
On Tuesday the 15th of October our Student Council were treated to a visit from local councillor David Jones. David Jones told us all about his time on the student council in Athboy Community College and gave us lots of ideas as to how we can make a positive impact on our school. He also told us about his job and life as a councillor. We're looking forward to working with Councillor Jones over the coming school year.
