Self Portraits!
We used coloured card, scissors, and glue to build our own faces.... in 3D! It was a really fun project that let us be really creative. We looked closely at our features and thought about how to show our hair, eyes, mouths using different shapes and layers. Everyone’s portrait is totally unique, just like us!
We worked hard, used our imaginations, and had lots of fun along the way. We’re really proud of how they turned out!
Symmetry!
We’ve been busy over the past few weeks exploring all kinds of symmetry! We learned about horizontal, vertical, and even diagonal lines of symmetry. We had loads of fun making symmetrical patterns using cubes, lollipop sticks, and pegs and we even became symmetry detectives, spotting lines of symmetry in lots of 2D shapes! 🦋
Crazy Hair Day!
Take a look at our wild and wonderful hair for Feel Good Friday!
Our Surrounding Counties!
We've been exploring the counties that surround Westmeath and discovering some of their most famous landmarks. Some of us have even had the chance to visit these amazing places! To test our knowledge, we played a fun sorting game where we matched each landmark to its county.
Rounders!
We finished our rounders lessons for September with a fun and friendly game against Ms. Murtagh’s 3rd class! We had been practising our throwing, catching, and striking all month, and it was great to put our skills to the test. Everyone played really well, and we had so much fun together! 🏏
Children of Lir!
We've been exploring the legend of the Children of Lir, with a focus on developing our sequencing skills. As part of our learning, we created our own illustrations to bring the story to life. We also practised retelling the tale in our own words, both from Lir’s perspective and from Aoife’s! 🦢
We’ve been busy in our STEM classes taking on the exciting Bone Bridge Challenge! 🧠💡
Working in teams, we used our problem-solving skills to ask questions, imagine, plan, create, test, and evaluate our bridges. We also discussed how we could improve them next time. It was a fantastic opportunity to collaborate, think creatively, and have lots of fun! 🦴🌉
There was great excitement in St Tola’s this week after Delvin’s fantastic win in the Senior B Hurling Championship final!
We were so lucky to welcome some of the winning team to our school and even managed to get a few autographs! What a brilliant day for everyone! 👏
We had so much fun celebrating Halloween in style! 🎃
From Star Wars to Ronald McDonald and Wednesday Addams, everyone looked amazing. Well done to all on your brilliant costumes! 👏🧛♂️
We’ve been learning all about Australia and procedure writing this month so we decided to mix the two together! We wrote step-by-step instructions on how to make fairy bread, a tasty Australian treat. The best part? We got to make (and taste) our own afterwards! 🇦🇺
Third Class have been diving deep into our Australia topic! We explored its major cities, famous landmarks, unique animals and so much more. After creating our own fact files, we used them to design our very own Google Slide presentations! 🦘🇦🇺
Bhíomar ag foghlaim faoi "sa bhaile".
Scríobhamar faoi ár dtithe éagsúla! 🏡
We have been busy learning all about money in Third Class! We explored shop brochures to help us understand real life spending. Our challenge was to find the cost, calculate the change, and choose the right coins and notes to buy each item! 💶
Here in 3rd Class, we are really getting into the Christmas spirit! We loved decorating our very own stockings. We had lots of fun! 🎄
We created our own little winter robins in art this week! First, we sketched our robin perched on a birdhouse, and then we brought them to life with paint. A lovely winter project! ❄️
Our class had a fantastic time creating snowmen using oil pastels. We explored shading techniques and learned how to cast realistic shadows to bring our snowy friends to life. Of course, we had plenty of fun adding creative accessories to give each snowman its own personality! 🎨⛄️
Our classroom was full of festive cheer as the children created beautiful Christmas tree mosaics using coloured card, scissors and glue! 🎄
