6th class have been showing off thier creative side when completing 'scrape art' self portraits. 

Everyone started by 'taking a line for a walk' around their page and then colouring in each setion using oil pastels. After, they painted over the coulour using black poster paint. Once they had sketched out their own portraits over the black paint they scraped off the light areas using a sharp edge. It was tedious at times but I think you will agree they turned out great. Well done 6th class!!

Our 6th Class scientists have been busy exploring the fascinating world of the human body! As part of our STEM learning, we investigated the circulatory and digestive systems, discovering how our organs work together to keep us alive and healthy.

The highlight of our learning was an exciting hands-on dissection of a cow's heart!  The children had the opportunity to examine a real heart up close, identifying its chambers, valves and major blood vessels while developing a greater understanding of how blood is pumped around the body.

Our 6th Class pupils have been busy exploring the history and geography of our local community! We investigated important buildings and landmarks in our locality, discovering their history, purpose and the important roles they play in our community. To bring our learning to life, we combined Geography, History, Art and STEM by designing and constructing our very own 3D models of local landmarks! Using everyday cardboard materials, the children learned a range of construction techniques, including flanges, tabs, L-braces and scoring, to create strong and detailed structures.

From our local church and castle to the mart, restaurant and GAA pitch, the children put their creativity, engineering skills and problem-solving abilities to the test!

This hands-on project helped us develop a greater appreciation of our local heritage while learning valuable design, construction and teamwork skills.
