In our classroom, we are a community.
Our class teacher is Ms. Wilkinson and we have wonderful SNAs throughout the year.
We are excited to share with you our exciting learning experiences during the school year!
Our Christmas stories 🎄
For the month of December, we focused on narrative writing. We followed the writing process of planning, drafting, editing and publishing. We focused on character development with an overarching theme of Christmas.
On the final day of the school holidays, we made a cosy space and read our stories by the fireplace. A wonderful end to a wonderful term. 😊
To top off the festivities, we made Christmas cookies 😋
Scratch Coding 💻
Scratch is an online coding platform that uses an algorithm to allow a character to move, speak and react. We had such a fantastic time creating our own digital adventures.
Procedure writing
We are utilising Google Classroom in our learning to publish our writing. Check out these procedures!
Visit to Dream Point🎈
We had such a wonderful time visit the visual immersive venue which included photobooths, light shows and even a giant ball pit!
Halloween Fun🎃
We enjoyed lots of Halloween activities in Blossoms. We created our own clay monsters that were very spooky! We played traditional Halloween games like apple bobbing and floury grape (with a blueberry).
To top it all off, we all dressed up and had great fun!
We made berry smoothies - they were delicious!
Recording our community
We created our own map of main street, Delvin by using Google street view to guide us through the services and activities in our community. Many of the famous landmarks of Delvin are present in our maps including the newly opened Londis!
All about our teeth
When exploring 'the human body' in science, we identified each type of teeth and its function. We learned how incisors cut the food, the canines tear the food and premolars and molars chew the food. We created each tooth using playdoh and completed a cut and stick activity to locate where each type of tooth is.
Creating the Irish landscape
Based on our learning around 'the landscape of Ireland' in Geography, we focused on the artist Paul Henry. We discussed and shared our opinions using the painting 'A Connemara village' and created realistic portrayals of the Irish countryside.
On the 17th September, we visited the Lidl farm in Co. Kildare. We enjoyed exploring the polytunnel, picking a class pumpkin from the pumpkin patch and visiting the farm animals. Our favourite part was taking a train around around the area. We created a digital poster to record this fantastic day. Check them out!
