Creative Schools Week
24th February-7th March 2025
Creative Schools week brought wonderful opportunities for all students to participate in artistic, imaginative and innovative activities. From drumming, junk art projects, poetry workshops and Forest School, there was truly something for everyone!
These photos share an example of creativity where students learned about 'Found Poetry'.
Student Council & Creative School's Bake Sale
19th February 2025
On Wednesday 19th February, the students on the Student Council and Creative Schools hosted a Bake Sale in the school hall. This was to raise money to purchase Outdoor Games to play with at breaktimes. All classes got the opportunity to go to the hall and buy some home baked goodies!
Today in St. Tola's we celebrated two very special days - St. Bridget's day and Grandparents day. This week we created St. Bridget's crosses and Fr. Heaney blessed them for us at our school mass. We welcomed our Grandparents today with a performance from each class - from poems to songs (including some classics like The Beatles and Joe Dolan!). A beautiful day of celebration for all.
During the month of January, our school celebrated wellbeing week. We participated in many activities that connected with the theme of 'Minding Me'. This included time for reflection, exercise and being in nature. We also enjoyed bringing in a helathy breakfast to enjoy with our class mates. To top it all off, Ms. Dwyer held a Forest School session for every class group which was a resounding success.
Green Schools
The School are working towards our 2nd Green Flag which is for the theme of 'Water'
Both within the school and at home in our community we are trying to Conserve Water and reduce our water usage where possible. We all must make a big effort and work together to earn this flag.
Ways to save water include:
Take a shower and not a bath.
Turn off the taps.
Turn off the tap when brushing your teeth.
Don't throw things down the toilet like wipes, wrappers.
Reuse water when possible. Collect rainwater to feed animals or water plants.
On Wednesday 4th of December we turned on our Christmas Lights! Thanks so much to our caretaker Barry who built and put up our beautiful Christmas tree again this year. We also had a very special visitor come to our school just in time for the turning on of the lights - Santa's elf Elfredo!
24th - 29th November
Our Student Council ran a very successful anti-bullying week. They began the week by leading assemblies to teach everyone that bullying is Targeted, Intentional, Hurtful and Repeated behaviour - except when it's online when it doesn't have to be repeated because once a harmful message or image is shared it can be viewed by thousands!
The student council also had a whole school anti- bullying quiz, a buddy walk and poster competition and the 'catch me being kind' raffle. This was a huge success where everyone earned raffle tickets for being kind. On Friday there was a raffle for every class.
As part of our Anti Bullying Week, The Student's Council in collaboration with the Creative School's Committee organised a community outreach project with Delvin Friendship Club. The children from 4th - 6th class and members of both committees went to Delvin Hall equipped with logs, candles, foliage and decorations to make Christmas Wreaths with the friendship club members. It was a great day and we can't wait to meet with them again.
