There will be no late registrations. (The only exception will be for teams that need an additional player in order to have enought to form a team.)
Sports Pilot registration error messages are often unclear. Most often, they are the result of incomplete entry fields. Please look for any red-highlighted fields when attempting to correct registration errors.
Please ensure you enter your player's jersey size during registration. See below for sizing information. Mistakes made entering sizing will require an additional fee to cover the cost of the additional jersey and will result in a delay of the jersey.
Coaches must register for every season using: SportsPilot coach registration. See additional information below.
Season Details:
There will be no late registrations. (The only exception will be for teams that need an additional player in order to have enought to form a team.)
There will likely be multiple teams per grade. Girls and boys play in separate leagues.
St. Timothy CYO Sports (Basketball, Volleyball, Track and Tennis) activities are completely managed and executed by St. Timothy volunteers. There are no paid positions, student scholarships, or stipends involved.
Please be aware that travel to Arlington, Alexandria, Fairfax, and Loudoun counties will be required for games. Notably, third grade may play games at St. Ann's in Arlington.
Team sizes will target 8 to 12 players, but may be as high as 15 players. This is based on participation numbers and gym availability.
The season will consist of approximately 9 weekend games, with an additional 2 weekends of games for tournaments.
Games will likely start the first weekend of December and run through the third weekend of March.
The goal is to not have games on holiday weekends (Martin Luther King Holiday weekend and President's Day Weekend), however, if we have cancellations due to weather, those weekends may be used for make-up games.
Practices will start mid November (based on gym availability).
Teams will practice one or two times per week, based on gym availability.
Coaches and Team Managers will use the Spond app to communicate team schedules and messages to the team.
On a program level, we are unable to consider special requests for players to be with specific coaches, players, car pools, or practice days due to limited resources. These details or issues may be worked out with coaches who have usually been able to accommodate practice schedule conflicts when there are multiple teams in a given grade.
Participation is limited to enrolled St. Timothy School students and those actively participating in a St. Timothy religious education program.
Registration does not guarantee participation. STS CYO sports are entirely run by volunteer organizers, coaches and team managers. If there is a lack of volunteer coaches, participants may be refunded and de-registered. This would occur based on the order of registration.
A player's game and practice eligibility is dependent upon satisfactory academic and behavioral performance in conformance with the STS Code of Conduct. Additionally, player, coach and spectator participation is based on adherence to the Arlington Diocese CYO Code of Conduct.
CYO Sports requires parent volunteers. All parents of players participating in CYO Sports are expected to help out in one of the following ways:

Answers to Frequently Asked Questions:
How are team rosters decided?
Coaches construct the teams using past knowledge of player skill and pre-season skill evaluations (when necessary) to determine teams. The STS Basketball Coordinator will assist where necessary.
In 3rd and 4th grade, we attempt to have teams with skill somewhat evenly distributed.
In 5th - 8th grade, the goal is to have multiple teams assigned to different skill-based divisions (1 through 4) to hopefully avoid St. Timothy teams playing other St. Timothy teams. We do not require teams to be divided by skill level and rely on our coaches to determine the best fit for a given year.
Can travel basketball players participate:
Yes, you may play travel or AAU basketball and CYO. Travel players may not find CYO to be competitive. The Diocese has reminded everyone of the potential for overuse injuries and higher likelihood of injury when playing on multiple teams.
What is CYO? A Catholic Sports Ministry, officially called NVJCYO, that is organized and administrated by the Arlington Diocese, offering a variety of sports programming for Arlington Diocese schools.
