All About Me

Hi, my name is Jaclyn St. Laurent, and I could not be more excited to begin my eleventh year teaching at St. Thomas the Apostle!

I graduated from Central Connecticut State University, where I received my bachelor’s degree in English with a minor in Psychology. After receiving my degree, I continued my education at the University of New Haven, where I earned my master’s degree in Elementary Education. During my studies at UNH, I was blessed with the opportunity to study abroad in London, France, and Amsterdam. My studies there focused on special education and behavioral issues.

While attending Central Connecticut State University, I also took every course offered in American Sign Language. I continued my ASL education at the American School for the Deaf in West Hartford, Connecticut. When time allows, I love sharing American Sign Language with my students.

Although this will be my eleventh year at STA, I also taught third grade for four years at another Catholic school. Teaching is truly a passion of mine, and I love helping students learn, grow, and become the best versions of themselves. I especially love making God the center of all that we do. One of my favorite parts of working in a Catholic school is having the opportunity to pray with my students throughout the day.

When I am not teaching, my favorite thing to do is spend time with my two little boys, who are 2 and 3 years old. I also love spending time with my family and friends, traveling and seeing the world, ordering things from Amazon, and enjoying an iced coffee from Starbucks!
