Reading and Writing

This term we will be focusing on a variety of themes that we can link to both our reading and writing progressions, as well as other areas of the curriculum.

These themes will be used across the whole of year 6 and collaborative classes will explore them in a variety of ways of their choice. Each theme will last for 2-3 working weeks.

Term 1 Literacy themes:

Identify grammar, language features and structures of a range of text types.

Discuss the deliberate use and impact of language features in a text.

Describe how different text types or genres have different language features.

WRITING

Choose the appropriate text structure and written and visual language features that meet the purpose for writing and engage the audience.

Attempt complex punctuation.

Write a variety of sentences showing some control over grammar.
