In Term 3, our Year 6 Topic learning will be centred around the theme of giving back to our local community inspired by the principle of Whānau Tangata - family and community.
As part of this kaupapa, our students will be taking part in a range of hands-on activities and experiences that help build empathy, social awareness, and a sense of connection beyond the classroom. These opportunities are not only about giving, but also about learning where and how we can support those in need—while strengthening relationships within our cohort and the wider community.
These activities may include:
Visiting our local retirement village
Donating to charity-based organisations and/or foodbanks
Learning from experts in our community
Tree planting in our local community
