All Saints’ Day Celebration Information

Thank you for supporting your Tiger’s faith journey and participation in our All Saints’ Day tradition! This will be the third year our third grade class has picked back up the tradition that honors this special day by dressing up as saints, processing into Mass, and hosting a living museum. This year, we will celebrate All Saints’ Day Mass on November 5th at 8:30 AM. We warmly invite your family to attend if possible!

All details about the celebration, including costume ideas and research guidelines, are included in this packet and also available on the “All Saints’ Day” tab on the classroom website.

Saint Research

Each student has been assigned a saint to research throughout October. Your Tiger received a book about their Saint to keep for the month of October. This book needs to be returned to school every day.  The book contains all the information needed to complete their display board.

Display Board Guidelines

By the end of the week, your Tiger will be coming home with a display board. This display board will stand behind them during the Living Museum.

All text should be typed in a clear, readable font and size.

Use of colorful scrapbook paper, construction paper, stickers, and other art supplies to creatively decorate the board is highly encouraged.

Don’t forget to include a picture of the saint somewhere on the board!

Include the following information on the board:

Left Side:

Date of birth and death

Birthplace and place of death (if different)

Feast Day

Patron saint of...

Middle Section:

A summary of your saint’s life

(Help your Tiger write two, solid paragraphs, each about 4 sentences, using the saint book, or any additional information researched with adult supervision.)

Right Side:

A prayer your child writes to their saint

(The prayer can include requests for those the saint protects or personal intentions.)

Living Museum Information

Living Museum

Following Mass on November 5th, our class will present a Living Museum in the Parish Center. Family and friends are invited to attend the Living Museum after mass. Entry will be through the Parish Center doors only.

What will happen?

Students will stand by their exhibit boards, acting as “living statues” of their saints. Visitors will walk around and ask students to share at least five facts about their saint. Students can refer to their display boards during the presentation.

Costume

Students should come to school already dressed as their saint on November 5th and remain in costume until the Living Museum ends.

Costume ideas and reference pictures are available on the “All Saints’ Day” tab of the classroom website.

Additional Information

Extra research about your child’s saint is encouraged but not required. I spoke with the class that additional research is encouraged, but only with the guidance of an adult.

I look forward to sharing this meaningful day with your child and appreciate your support. Thank you for helping make this a special celebration of faith and learning!
