What are we doing the week of August 24?: 

Math: starting chapter 1 - lesson 1 understand place value, lesson 2 - write multi-digit numbers

English:  starting chapter 7 - lesson 1 end punctuation, lesson 2 capitalization, lesson 3 titles of works, lesson 4 abbreviations

Reading: starting Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing - chapter 1 and fact vs. opinion

Religion:  introduction to the Bible and start chapter 1

Social Studies: map skills - key/legend, compass rose, map grids

Science: (rotates weeks with social studies)

Spelling: practicing list 1.1  List 1.1 test on Wed. Aug. 26, introduce and practice list 1.2

• Friday, August 28: No School - Teachers Institute

• Saturday, August 29: Parish Picnic

• Friday, September 4: Book Orders due

• Monday, September 7: No School - Labor Day

• Tuesday, September 8: Picture Day

• Wednesday, September 16: Half Day 11:30 Dismissal, Grandparents Day

• Friday, September 18: Progress Reports

• Wednesday, September 23: 4th Grade in Charge of Mass

Reminders:

• Water bottles must be see through.  Water fountains are open for use. 

• Wednesdays we go to Mass. Students should wear white uniform shirts. 

• Only uniform approved sweaters and fleeces can we worn in the classroom during the school day.  Please make sure students bring them to school in case the classroom is cold. We have a brand new air conditioner and it works well - our room may be colder than students are used to being.
