Week Commencing 23/09/24 Module 1 2024-2025
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this letter finds you well as we conclude another busy and successful week at Strood Academy. As we navigate through the academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to share some of the remarkable achievements and events that have taken place at our school over the past week, emphasising not only the dedication of our students but also the support of our staff and the engagement of families.
Firstly, I am truly delighted to announce that our newly formed Year 7 football team delivered an outstanding performance during their recent match against Thomas Aveling, securing a triumphant 5-1 victory. From the outset, it was evident that the boys were determined to make a statement. They played with skill and confidence, demonstrating a strong understanding of teamwork and strategy. It was particularly impressive to witness Rocko net two goals, while Lucca, Michael, and Josh each contributed with a goal of their own. I would also like to extend special recognition to Charlie, who exhibited outstanding prowess in midfield, controlling the game and ensuring our dominance throughout the match. Such performances instil a sense of pride in our school community and showcase the talent and potential of our young athletes.
Furthermore, our Year 10 boys also excelled during their visit to Thomas Aveling on Monday evening, winning their match 2-1. The team displayed exemplary sportsmanship, representing Strood Academy with pride and integrity. Stanley was instrumental in this victory, scoring both goals in a display of skill and determination. The camaraderie and collective effort displayed by the boys were commendable, and I have no doubt their hard work and perseverance will serve them well in future fixtures.
This week, we held our Year 10 expectations evening in the Main Hall, which saw a fantastic turnout of parents and pupils eager to engage with essential information regarding the journey ahead. It was heartening to see so many families present, demonstrating their commitment to their children’s education. The evening provided an opportunity to discuss key milestones, academic expectations, and the support available to our students over the next two years. Additionally, we successfully conducted our Year 13 expectations evening, which also received excellent attendance. Parents and pupils left well-informed, equipped with the tools and knowledge necessary for success in their final year at Strood Academy.
Looking ahead, I am excited to announce that our open mornings will commence next week, taking place on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9:30 to 11:00. We warmly invite parents and prospective students to visit our school to experience the vibrant learning environment we cultivate. Detailed information about these events can be accessed via our website. Furthermore, we invite you to join us for our open evening next Thursday from 4pm to 7pm. We have planned an engaging array of activities, including displays of student work, interactive sessions, and opportunities to meet our dedicated staff. This promises to be an evening not to be missed and a great chance to engage with our school community.
It has been wonderful to see our pupils settle into their new routines and thrive in their studies. The hard work and dedication displayed each day are truly remarkable. Our teachers are continually impressed by the enthusiasm and commitment our students demonstrate, whether in the classroom or on the sports field. It is this spirit of determination that fosters a positive learning environment and encourages academic and personal growth.
As we approach the weekend, I wish you all a restful break and hope you find time to unwind and enjoy family activities. We look forward to welcoming our pupils back to school on Monday morning at 8:00 am. Please be reminded that the Main Gate will close at 8:30 am to ensure that all students are settled and ready for their lessons.
Thank you for your continued support in fostering a community that prioritises education and personal development. Your partnership is invaluable, and together we can ensure that every student at Strood Academy reaches their full potential.
Best wishes,
Jon Richardson

As we enter the new academic year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups and the assembly protocol
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings and Parent Voice Forums
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way. We look forward to our second year of Vision 2028 and cannot wait to celebrate all we will achieve.
