Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
I hope this letter finds you well and refreshed after the May half term break. I am delighted to share with you some notable highlights and upcoming events as we embark on the second half of the summer term.
Firstly, I would like to commend the exceptional commitment shown by our Year 11 and Year 13 pupils who attended the May half term intervention sessions. The dedication and positive attitude exhibited by our students are truly commendable. A special thank you is extended to our teachers who voluntarily devoted their holiday time to deliver these sessions, demonstrating their unwavering dedication to our students' success.
Additionally, it brings me great joy to inform you of the overwhelmingly positive feedback we received from employers regarding the work experience placements undertaken by our Year 10 pupils at the end of module 5. The commendations received reflect the outstanding conduct and professionalism displayed by our students during their time in the workplace.
Please be advised that a letter detailing the arrangements for the conclusion of the current module on Friday 19th July, as well as the staggered start to the academic year in September, will be dispatched to you imminently. Kindly review the included information on the upcoming term dates for the academic year 2025/26, as there have been some minor adjustments that necessitate your attention.
As we proceed into module 6, an array of exciting events awaits our academy community, including the highly anticipated academy sports day scheduled to take place on Tuesday 16th July. Further details will be communicated to you by the Physical Education department in due course.
In celebration of our 15th anniversary, we are thrilled to announce the upcoming Founders Day event on Saturday 13th July, where we look forward to commemorating this milestone with our school community. Furthermore, a celebration event is scheduled for Friday 12th July, inviting selected pupils and parents to rejoice in the achievements and successes of the academic year.
I am pleased to welcome Mr. Williams as our new Assistant Principal, whose wealth of experience and expertise in Personal Development will undoubtedly enrich our academy community. We are privileged that Mr. Williams has chosen to join us on this journey.
During his recent visit, Mr. Beamish, our Trust CEO, commended the exemplary learning environment observed within the academy. The engagement of pupils, effective use of digital tools, and overall positive atmosphere were highlighted as key strengths, affirming our commitment to providing a conducive learning environment for all our students.
Lastly, I am pleased to announce that the parent survey for module 6 will soon be disseminated. Your feedback is invaluable to us, and we welcome this opportunity to collaborate with all parents and carers to further enhance the educational experience at Strood Academy.
In conclusion, I extend my gratitude to all parents, carers, and staff for their continued support and dedication to the success of our students. Together, we will continue to inspire excellence and nurture a love for learning within our academy community.

Since the new year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups and the assembly protocol
Focusing on combating 'Culture Killers' such as poor uniform standards and use of foul and inappropriate language
Implementing a standardised homework policy across the academy
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings and Parent Voice Forums
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.
As part of our Vision 2028 Engagement Curriculum, we are working to gather regular feedback from all members of the Strood Academy community, through events such as the Parent Voice Forum and feedback surveys. From the feedback gathered earlier on this academic year, we implemented a route of transition around the academy to ensure a smooth and safe journey throughout the academy for all students and staff.
This has been extremely successful so far with students moving through the academy calmly and safely, allowing students to travel to lessons with pace and purpose. We are so grateful for your support with this Engagement Curriculum and hope you will agree that these routines have had a positive impact within our academy.
