Principal's Message
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents/Carers,
Following my welcome back letter dated 29th August, it has been an excellent start to the new academic year. We welcomed our pupils back from Friday 1st September and new pupils joining the academy in both Year 7 and Year 12 have settled extremely quickly, embracing their new environment. We have also welcomed a number of new staff to our academy for the new year and they have all been so complimentary about Strood Academy and the purposeful environment we share including our fantastic pupils. We welcome all of our new members to our community as we commence this new school year together. What a hot week for all, with temperatures soaring. Our pupils have worked so very hard to settle back into the routine of academy life. To support our pupils we have allowed them to remove blazers to ensure they can keep as cool as possible. We do still ask all pupils to have their blazer with them as part of their uniform as we are mindful that the autumn season will soon kick into life with temperatures decreasing somewhat.
This week has seen welcome back assemblies as well as college assemblies to support our engagement curriculum and pastoral support. Our college structures are firmly cemented and rooted in all we do, we know by providing our pupils exceptional pastoral care they can flourish here at Strood Academy. A reminder, should you wish to contact the school please do so via college email addresses. These email accounts are monitored by our college admin team and will be replied to as quickly as possible.
This academic year I will continue to write to you weekly to share the goings on within the academy. I hope you find this useful and within the bulletin there will always be a range of information as well as notices of up and coming events.
Next week we welcome our Year 11 parents and carers into the academy for a Year 11 expectations evening, Mr Fatania has provided all details and further information can be found within this bulletin. We had an incredible attendance to this event in module 6, we certainly look forward to seeing you all again on Wednesday 13th September commencing at 5pm. We all know how vitally important this year is for our Year 11 pupils as they progress and prepare for their examinations next spring.
To conclude, a message to you as parents/carers. Our pupils have returned to the academy with such a positive attitude to their studies, their uniform has been exemplary and I thank you for ensuring your child is best prepared for the new year. We know that working together our children will thrive and achieve the very best.
Have a restful weekend,
Mr Jon Richardson
Principal
