Principal's Message

Mr Jon Richardson - Principal

Dear Parents,

I hope this message finds you well. I am pleased to share with you the exciting events and achievements that have taken place at Strood Academy this week.

Firstly, I would like to extend my gratitude to all the pupils who participated in our transition session in Performing Arts. The engagement in dance and drama was truly impressive, and I am delighted to see so many pupils involved. Next week, we will continue our transition sessions with a focus on Modern Foreign Languages, commencing at 4pm on Wednesday.

I am thrilled to report the resounding success of our Year 6 transition day. Feedback from both pupils and parents was overwhelmingly positive, reflecting the warm welcome they received. I sincerely thank you for your contributions towards making our new pupils feel part of our school community. We eagerly anticipate their return in September.

Additionally, our recent Art CDR (Curriculum Development Review) received excellent feedback, affirming the dedication and talent of our Art, Design, and Technology team.

Today, we welcomed a cohort of new staff members to Strood Academy. Their exceptional skills and experience will undoubtedly continue to elevate our academic standards and enrich the learning environment for all our students.

Furthermore, we are eagerly anticipating the Year 11 prom this evening, where our students are looking forward to a memorable celebration.

Looking ahead, we will be releasing the Year 10 mock examination results next Wednesday afternoon. We invite parents/carers to join us from 2:15 pm to discuss and review the outcomes.

A reminder that our Parent Voice Forum is scheduled for Thursday, 11th July at 6 pm. Your input and presence are valued as we work collaboratively to enhance our school community.

On Friday, 12th July, we will host a rewards evening to recognise and celebrate the achievements of our students. Invitations have been sent, and we hope to see many of you there.

I am pleased to announce the launch of our pre-loved uniform shop starting from September. Thanks to the kind donations from our departing Year 11 pupils, we can offer pre-owned school uniforms for a voluntary donation, facilitating sustainable practices and supporting our students.

Wishing you a restful weekend,

Warm regards,

Mr Jon Richardson

We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.

How to use Sparx Reader

Recently at Strood Academy, we have been working to create a series of short videos demonstrating how to navigate the platforms we use for homework tasks and independent learning. The next video in this series focuses on Sparx Reader.

Sparx Reader allows students to access a range of books which they can read in their own time, giving students the opportunity to further develop their love of reading.

In this video, you will learn how to navigate this platform. We hope you find this useful.
