Spanish Buddies from Concorde
Last week we welcomed another group of Spanish students from Concorde International into our academy. We have been so fortunate to be able to run this programme throughout this year and we cannot wait to host even more groups of students next academic year.
Our students have continued to make us so proud as they welcomed these students into their lessons, taking the opportunity to make friends and practice their Spanish. This has been a truly invaluable experience for all involved!
Attendance Rewards
During line up on Friday morning, these students won awards for 100% attendance across the week! Well done to Noah, Sidney, Dolcie, Keelan, Emma and Edward - a fantastic achievement!
Shine Media Awards
On Monday, Florence and Daisy attended the prestigious Shine Media Awards. Florence was shortlisted for the “Sports Award” after writing a feature article for our school newspaper, The Perspective. Florence was highly commended for her article! Well done Florence!
Florence and Daisy also participated in industry workshops such as bookbinding, cartoon drawing with Stephen Merchant and podcasting. It was a great day had by all!
Student Leadership Representatives in Assemblies
College assemblies this week have been on the General Election, introducing students to how these work, the importance of these, as well as the three main political parties within the UK.
We then handed over to the sixth formers within our group of student leadership representatives to present the 2024 manifestos. Tarry presented on behalf of the Labour Party, Lauren on behalf of the Liberal Democrat Party and Harry on behalf of the Conservative Party. These presentations were fantastically informative and provided students and staff alike, a real insight into what each political party is proposing ahead of these elections.
New Reward
Over the past two weeks, staff have been able to log a new reward point called 'consistently meeting expectations'. Through parent feedback it was noted that we previously do not always reward students who always 'get it right', therefore we listened and have introduced this new reward point and will also be celebrating this in our termly reward assemblies.
Students who consistently meet our expectations in terms of behaviour, uniform, line up expectations, conduct in and around the school site etc can be given this reward point and staff are ensuring that all students can be recognised each lesson for their compliance and hard work.
1279 'consistently meeting expectations' rewards points have been logged over the past 13 days and so well done to our students for continually working so hard with us to ensure that Strood Academy is committed to excellence.
