Week Commencing 13/05/24 Term 5 2023-2024
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents,
I hope this letter finds you well. I am pleased to inform you of the excellent progress and achievements of our pupils at Strood Academy. It has been another successful week for Year 11, Year 12, and Year 13 as they have diligently worked through their examinations with commendable resilience and determination. We are proud of the calmness and dedication they have displayed throughout this busy period.
Next week marks a significant milestone for our Year 10 pupils as they embark on their work experience placements. We are confident that they will represent Strood Academy admirably and make the most of this invaluable opportunity. We wish them all the best for a fulfilling and enriching experience.
In a bid to facilitate a smooth transition for our younger pupils, we recently hosted our second transition session for Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 students. The session, centred around Arts, saw 78 pupils engaging in photography, food, and arts activities. The enthusiasm and joy on their faces were truly heartwarming. We are grateful to our staff and Sixth Form pupils for their support in making this event a success.
Our community recently celebrated a special moment as one of our esteemed former pupils, Mikey Moore, made his debut for Tottenham Hotspur. Mikey's swift progress and achievement as the youngest Tottenham player ever to feature in the Premier League reflect the values instilled at Strood Academy. We will be honoured to display one of Mikey's match-worn shirts in our hall of fame, symbolising his remarkable journey.
I would like to remind all parents about our upcoming Module 5 Parents Voice Forum scheduled for Tuesday, 23rd May, from 6pm to 7pm. Your participation and feedback are invaluable to us, and we encourage you to join us for this important discussion. Further details can be found on our website: Module 5 Parent Voice Forum
As we approach the final week of the module, I commend our pupils for upholding the highest standards and embracing academy life wholeheartedly. We eagerly anticipate welcoming all pupils back to the academy on Monday at 8:30am.
Should you have any questions or require further information, please do not hesitate to get in touch. Thank you for your continued support and commitment to the academic success and well-being of our students.
Warm regards,
Mr Jon Richardson

Since the new year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups and the assembly protocol
Focusing on combating 'Culture Killers' such as poor uniform standards and use of foul and inappropriate language
Implementing a standardised homework policy across the academy
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings and Parent Voice Forums
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.
As part of our Vision 2028 Engagement Curriculum, we are working to gather regular feedback from all members of the Strood Academy community, through events such as the Parent Voice Forum and feedback surveys. From the feedback gathered earlier on this academic year, we implemented a route of transition around the academy to ensure a smooth and safe journey throughout the academy for all students and staff.
This has been extremely successful so far with students moving through the academy calmly and safely, allowing students to travel to lessons with pace and purpose. We are so grateful for your support with this Engagement Curriculum and hope you will agree that these routines have had a positive impact within our academy.
