On 19th April 2024, Ofcom released their annual Media Use and Attitudes Report, detailing the findings of several surveys and their implications for parents, children and young people in the UK. These statistics often include plenty of thought-provoking information relating to online safety.
The report itself is extremely extensive, so instead we've provided a bespoke selection of data gathered by Ofcom about children and young people’s experiences on social media, video games and the like. Check our guide for a thorough breakdown of the headline findings.

Summer Mocks
To aid your child’s revision efforts, we recommend the “Ultimate Revision Guide”, a comprehensive tool designed to assist students in preparing for their upcoming mocks. This guide includes a full specification outline, useful links, and access to past papers, all of which are invaluable resources for effective revision.
You can access the Ultimate Revision Guide by clicking on the following link: Year 11 Revision Guide. This online resource has been curated to align closely with the topics covered in the examination syllabus, allowing students to focus their revision efforts efficiently. You can also use the Subject module review that was sent out previously, you can access the subject review by clicking on the following link: Year 10 subject review guide
We encourage you to support your child in incorporating the Ultimate Revision Guide and Subject Overview into their revision routine. By dedicating time each day to study and practice using these materials, your child can boost their confidence and knowledge ahead of the mock examinations.
Working together, we can ensure that your child is well-prepared and equipped to excel in their assessments. Thank you for your continued support and proactive involvement in your child’s education.

Exam Stress
We are aware that exams have the potential to exacerbate feelings of anxiety and stress amongst young people. That is why it's important that whilst pupils should be encouraged to work hard, this should not be at the expense of their wellbeing.
There is a range of advice and guidance for students and parents to help alleviate or lessen the anxiety they have about sitting exams. Over the coming weeks, as we approach the GCSE exams, we will be sharing a range of resources to support with managing this exam stress.
Please see the attached article, published by Ofqual on how to cope with exam pressure.
Year 11 Chromebook Returns
A reminder that all Year 11 students must return their Chromebooks and chargers before their final GCSE exam. The last GCSE exam date for Year 11 is Friday, 17th June. Students are instructed to hand their Chromebooks and chargers to their designated teacher before the start of their final exam. We will provide further instructions in due course.
Students who will be continuing their studies at Strood Sixth Form in September will receive new Chromebooks at the beginning of the new academic year. More information regarding these devices will be communicated directly to those students.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the timely return of these devices. For more information please see the letter attached.

Years 12 and 13 have subject-specific study periods built into their timetables, roomed into the study area. This area is now being supervised as a quiet study area to enable students to continue with their set subject work. We hope students find this useful.
