Exam Stress
We are aware that exams have the potential to exacerbate feelings of anxiety and stress amongst young people. That is why it's important that whilst pupils should be encouraged to work hard, this should not be at the expense of their wellbeing.
There is a range of advice and guidance for students and parents to help alleviate or lessen the anxiety they have about sitting exams. Over the coming weeks, as we approach the GCSE exams, we will be sharing a range of resources to support with managing this exam stress.
Please see the attached article, published by Student Minds, providing tips and resources on how to deal with exam stress.
Year 11 Chromebook Returns
A reminder that all Year 11 students must return their Chromebooks and chargers before their final GCSE exam. The last GCSE exam date for Year 11 is Friday, 17th June. Students are instructed to hand their Chromebooks and chargers to their designated teacher before the start of their final exam. We will provide further instructions in due course.
Students who will be continuing their studies at Strood Sixth Form in September will receive new Chromebooks at the beginning of the new academic year. More information regarding these devices will be communicated directly to those students.
We appreciate your cooperation in ensuring the timely return of these devices. For more information please see the letter attached.
Prom Details
The year 11s have had their IB Challenge Card and students have been encouraged to complete the ‘Perfect week’. Each week pupils have 3 targets to meet; Attend 3 intervention sessions, have 100% attendance and finally have positive net conduct points. If pupils meet these they will receive a contribution towards their prom ticket. These will be collected on the 10th May and further information will be shared at this point.
Tickets are £50 per student. If your child would like to attend please pay the £25 non-refundable deposit ASAP via Parent Pay.
We are incredibly excited to celebrate this momentous occasion with you and your child.
Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact the School Office.
Here at Strood Academy Sixth Form, we offer a range of pathways, one of these being T-Levels. As of next year, we will be offering Legal, Finance and Accounting as well as Healthcare Science T-Levels. T-Levels are worth the equivalent of three A-Levels and aim to support students to develop their skills, knowledge and to thrive in the workplace. These consist of a blend of in-class study as well as work placements.
This pathway can lead to university, Level 4 apprenticeships, as well as opening doors to a variety of job opportunities.
For further information, please see the link here.
Attached is the KS5 dress code for your information, as well as Expectations which have been shared with year 12 and 13 students
Early Finish Fridays: any 6th form students who achieve 100% attendance for the week have the opportunity of leaving during lunchtimes on Friday. Ms Stubbs will be liaising with eligible students. Please refer to the letter shared this week for further information on this.
Years 12 and 13 have subject-specific study periods built into their timetables, roomed into the study area. This area is now being supervised as a quiet study area to enable students to continue with their set subject work. We hope students find this useful.
