Principal's Message

Mr Jon Richardson - Principal

Dear Parents,

We are writing to celebrate another productive week at Strood Academy, filled with both significant milestones and exciting announcements for the future.

Year 11 and Year 13 Examinations Begin:

A big congratulations to our Year 11 and Year 13 students who have embarked on their examination period! This week saw Year 11 tackle Art and Spanish oral exams, while Year 13 focused on 3D Design and Finance. Their dedication and hard work are truly commendable, and we have full confidence they are well-prepared to achieve outstanding results.

The examinations will continue next week. If you have any questions or require additional support for your child, please don't hesitate to contact your relevant college team.

Important Information for Year 11 Parents:

To ensure a smooth examination period for Year 11 students, we'd like to invite you to a special information session on Friday, May 3rd, starting at 4pm. During this meeting, we will provide a detailed breakdown of the remaining exams, including the support and interventions offered by the academy throughout.

Welcoming our New Year 7 Cohort:

We are thrilled to announce that on Thursday, May 2nd, we will be welcoming our brand-new Year 7 cohort joining us in September 2024! With a record-breaking intake of 270 new students, Strood Academy continues to be the school of choice for a growing number of families. This steady growth is a testament to the exceptional education and positive environment we foster at our academy.

Celebrating Diversity and Open-Mindedness:

This week, our college teams collaborated to deliver engaging assemblies focused on the theme of unconscious bias. Students explored the importance of recognising and celebrating different cultures, communities, faiths, and backgrounds. This initiative aligns perfectly with the IB learner profiles of being "open-minded" and "reflective," and we were heartened by the feedback from pupils.

Looking Ahead:

We wish you all a restful weekend and look forward to welcoming all students back on Monday morning. As a reminder, all pupils must be on the academy site by 8:30am.

Thank you for your continued support.

Regards,

Mr Jon Richardson

Since the new year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:

We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.

As part of our Vision 2028 Engagement Curriculum, we are working to gather regular feedback from all members of the Strood Academy community, through events such as the Parent Voice Forum and feedback surveys. From the feedback gathered earlier on this academic year, we implemented a route of transition around the academy to ensure a smooth and safe journey throughout the academy for all students and staff.

This has been extremely successful so far with students moving through the academy calmly and safely, allowing students to travel to lessons with pace and purpose. We are so grateful for your support with this Engagement Curriculum and hope you will agree that these routines have had a positive impact within our academy.
