Principal's Message
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
This week at Strood Academy has been filled with exciting achievements and a continued focus on academic excellence.
Celebrating Success:
Year 11 Triumph: We are incredibly proud of our Year 11 students who completed their mock examinations. Following their dedicated examination period, they were offered an 8-day privilege. We've seen a remarkable impact, with exceptional attendance levels maintained throughout this module. This dedication reflects their commitment and sets a strong foundation for their upcoming final exams.
The Grand Opening of the Endeavour Centre: A momentous occasion took place on Wednesday as our pupils, Jude and George, alongside the Mayor of Medway, officially inaugurated the Endeavour Centre. Witnessing our students deliver their speeches with such confidence was truly inspiring. We commend the staff's exceptional work in organising this well-attended event, welcoming members of the Local Authority and parents to celebrate this significant milestone in Strood Academy's history.
Strood Board Visit: We had the pleasure of hosting members of our Strood Board today. They spent the morning observing lessons, interacting with staff and students, and experiencing the engaging learning environment that thrives at Strood Academy.
Enriching Drama Experience: A fantastic opportunity arose for our students as Mr. Pointer, Ms. Bassett, and Mr. Minshull accompanied them to a special viewing of the Lion King as part of their Drama curriculum. We sincerely appreciate the staff's initiative in facilitating this enriching experience.
Looking ahead to next week:
Year 11 Mock Results and Information Session: Next Wednesday afternoon, we look forward to welcoming Year 11 parents to the academy for the distribution of mock exam results. Key staff members will also be delivering presentations to provide valuable information and support.
Year 7 Parents' Evening: On Thursday evening, we invite Year 7 parents/carers to the academy for an evening dedicated to meeting our staff and gaining insights into their child's academic journey. Please refer to our website for all the details.
Just a reminder to parents that our final day of the module is on Thursday 28th March, this is a full day and we will be finishing at 3:20pm as per usual.
We acknowledge and appreciate your continued support. Here at Strood Academy, we take immense pride in our students' achievements, and your partnership is invaluable in their success.
Have a restful weekend and we look forward to welcoming pupils back to the academy at 8:30am on Monday morning.
Regards,
Mr. Jon Richardson
Principal

Since the new year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups, the assembly protocol and focusing on transitions around the academy building; encouraging students are moving between lessons with pace and purpose and ensuring all students feel safe when moving around the academy
Focusing on combating 'Culture Killers' such as poor uniform standards, litter around the academy, use of foul and inappropriate language and body language within lessons; ensuring all students are presenting as focused and ready to learn
Implementing a standardised homework policy across the academy, where students are aware of the expectations around homework as well as the importance of this
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Improving relations with parents, carers and the local community through information shared social media platforms and in Weekly Parent Bulletins
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings, Year 7 Meet the Form Tutor, Parent Voice Forums and Parental Drop-Ins as well as tools such as 'Request Call Back' button and college-specific email addresses
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way.
