Measles Update

Protect your child from measles. Book an appointment at an MMR catch-up clinic this March.

Measles isn’t just a harmless childhood disease and can lead to serious illness, but it is preventable through two doses of the MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella) vaccine. Following a rise in cases in England, the NHS are urging parents and carers to make sure their children are up to date with their MMR vaccinations. Catch-up clinics are available to school-aged children, and teens up to 19, in Chatham on Saturday, 2 and Saturday 23 March. To book an appointment phone the School-aged Immunisation Service on 0300 123 5205 or email via kchft.cyp-immunisationteam@nhs.net. If you’re not sure whether your child is up to date with their MMR jabs, look in your child’s red book, or check with your GP, who can also offer MMR catch-up appointments.

SAFEGUARDING

Year 9

Thank you to all parents, carers and students who attended our Year 9 options and parents evening last night. In total, 85.5% of the year group attended which provided all in attendance with a great opportunity to discuss their options and future pathways with teachers. Our wide and varied curriculum offer was on full display with stalls showcasing the brilliant work produced by our current Year 10 & 11 students. Our students now have 2 weeks to complete their options choices by the 15th March by completing the Google Form sent to all parents and carers. Year 11

“Everything is important - success is in the detail”

We have surpassed the halfway mark of our February Mock exams. The Year 11 final mock examination series are an integral part of our year 11 journey process. These mock exams are the final opportunity for both students and teachers to assess the progress students have made in their respective subjects. These February mocks will help identify strengths and areas that may require additional attention as we come closer to Summer GCSE Examinations.

Mock exams simulate the conditions of the final exams, allowing students to become familiar with the format, timing, and expectations, which can help alleviate anxiety when it comes to the actual exams. The results of these mock exams will provide valuable feedback to both students and teachers. This feedback will be used to tailor our teaching methods and support strategies to better meet the needs of individual students.

SIXTH FORM

Attached is the KS5 dress code for your information, as well as Expectations which have been shared with year 12 and 13 students
Early Finish Fridays: any 6th form students who achieve 100% attendance for the week have the opportunity of leaving during lunchtimes on Friday. Ms Stubbs will be liaising with eligible students. Please refer to the letter shared this week for further information on this.
Years 12 and 13 have subject-specific study periods built into their timetables, roomed into the study area. This area is now being supervised as a quiet study area to enable students to continue with their set subject work. We hope students find this useful.
