A massive well done to all students who competed in the variety of trust-wide PE events and competitions over the past couple of weeks. See below for further details on these:
Last Thursday, 16 students travelled to The Howard School to take part in a Sports Hall Athletics competition. The students represented the Academy superbly and showed the core values of resilience and respect throughout the day. We are delighted to confirm the boys team recorded an impressive 4th Place Finish, with the girls also achieving some fantastic individual performances as they placed 6th overall!
On Monday, we took part in the Year 7/8 LAT football event where we finished a fantastic third place in a challenging group. We recorded 3 wins, 2 narrow defeats and a comeback draw. Each player represented the Academy really well with fantastic team and individual performances. Elisha scored 4 goals with Bella closely behind on 3. Natalia won the most improved player as her confidence grew within each game. Freya picked up Player of the tournament due to her tireless running and reading of the game. Well done everyone!
On Tuesday selected Year 7/8 boys represented the Academy in the LAT 5-a-side football tournament at the Leigh Academy. The boys performed extremely well, finishing 3rd in their group, winning 3 out of 6 games and drawing another against Mascalls. We also beat the eventual winners 2-0 in our first group game! All boys performed extremely well and special mentions go to Frankie who scored a Hat trick in the 3-2 win against Leigh UTC. Jae, Oscar, Billy and Folodami also made it onto the scoresheet throughout the tournament. Shout out to Zach who performed fantastically in defence and Edward made lots of great saves throughout the tournament to keep us in it! Well done to all!
