Dear Parent/carers, 

We’ve had another extremely busy week here within the academy as we near towards the Christmas break. This term has flown past with so many events taking place with our pupils engaging so well within their education here at Strood Academy.

Yesterday the academy held its first face to face parents evening since before the coronavirus pandemic. This was held for year 11 pupils where they also collected their mock results as well. We had an incredible evening with pupils receiving feedback on how to improve on their work. We had a superb attendance of over 88% of Year 11 pupils attending to support a brilliant atmosphere. Thank you for your support here and engagement with the academy to improve and support your child during this key time within their studies. 

This week we have also had many sporting fixtures, our lunchtime and after school clubs are continuing to be especially popular as well as visits from Kent University and a production to support our Year 11 pupils to support with their GCSE English courses. Please do keep an eye out on our social media platforms where we share this information. 

A reminder to parents that we will be finishing for Module 2 on Friday 15th December. We will have a shorter school day and pupils will be dismissed at 1:30pm. Pupils can wear a Christmas jumper on the final day of term but this is only to replace their school jumper, other than that full school uniform must be worn. A letter is attached here with full details. On our final day of term we look forward to celebrating with our pupils their achievements during module 1 and module 2. 

Within our final week of the module we have our parent voice forum taking place on Tuesday 12th December. It is a great opportunity for you to join us to feedback and support us in the next steps within the academy. Full details are attached here for you.

Next week we also host our first Christmas show, our performing arts department have been working tirelessly behind the scenes to ensure an excellent evening. All details are attached here, we hope that many of you will join us!

This week we have had an increased focus on punctuality to school, ensuring that all pupils are on academy site by 8:30. Our main gates are closing at 8:30 with any pupil arriving later than this will be placed into our late room and then issued a 30 minute detention. Throughout the week we have seen a large decrease in pupils being late to school, thank you for your support here.
