Please see here a guide by the NHS regarding the Money and Mental Health Advice Service. We are conscious that with Christmas approaching and the days getting darker and colder, these issues affect us all. Please do use these services for support.
As well as this, Strood Academy has a Safeguarding email which is operating throughout term time and the school holidays - safeguarding@stroodacademy.org. Please reach out to us if there is anything we can do to support.
A note from the attendance team: Please ensure you are contacting the Academy via email or text message to alert us if your child is going to be late or will not be attending the Academy that day. Also, please ensure you are advising the attendance team of any appointments your child may have so we can ensure students are in reception at the correct time, ready to be collected. We will soon be releasing a rota for Sixth Form enrichment clubs. Sixth form students can then sign up for one of these clubs which will take place Friday P6.
We have been fortunate last week as we were able to offer some additional opportunities through some external visitors:
Jake Justice from Greenwich University delivered a workshop to the year 13s, which dispelled any myths and fears about leaving school and going to university.
Ms Wilkinson-Crute also organised for Liz Hunt, Senior Associate Editor, Daily Mail, to visit Strood Academy to speak to year 12 about a career in journalism and media. She revealed her career has been both interesting and exciting, piquing the interest of our sixth formers.
This week, Beth from the University of Kent vistsed Strood Academy to deliver an exciting assembly to our year 12 students about the fantastic Succeed Programme; an opportunity to take part in university seminars and a residential. More information will follow for the year 12 parents.
The Winter Showcase, 'A Light in the Dark' will take place on Thursday 14th December. This will be in our Main Hall. Doors will open at 5.40pm, the reception doors will not open before then.
Students taking part in the Winter Showcase may stay at school from 3.20pm, if not all students must return to the Academy by 5pm.
The evening will be a celebration of Music, Dance and Drama work from students in Year 7 - 13. We will also have performances from Stagecoach and local primary schools.
We look forward to welcoming you to the Academy.
