Year 11 Final Day
Monday, June 16th, marked a truly special day for our Year 11 students as they completed their final whole-cohort GCSE exam, wrapping up five years of hard work and growth. 📚✨
To celebrate this milestone, we held our much-loved annual traditions: the Guard of Honour and shirt-signing celebration. Staff and students lined the academy to applaud our Year 11s —a powerful and emotional tribute to everything they've achieved. 👏💖 The shirt signing that followed was filled with laughter, joy, and heartfelt messages, creating lasting memories and a true sense of unity. 😂✍️
We couldn’t be prouder of the resilience, determination, and spirit our Year 11 students have shown throughout their time at Strood Academy. They've grown into thoughtful, ambitious young adults, ready to take on the next stage of their journey, whether that's in our Sixth Form or beyond. 🎓🌟
These celebrations were fitting tributes to an exceptional year group. Well done, Year 11—you’ve left your mark, and we can’t wait to see what the future holds for each of you! 🚀🌟
Thank a Teacher Day 📚
🎉 On Wednesday, we celebrated #ThankATeacherDay!
A huge shoutout to all our incredible school staff who inspire, support, and go the extra mile every single day. 💙
To celebrate, we took on the Pass the Phone Challenge to get to know the amazing people behind the scenes! 📱✨

Generative AI
The remarkable growth of generative AI tools like ChatGPT has opened up exciting new opportunities for young learners. Used wisely, AI can be a powerful ally in boosting creativity, learning and problem-solving skills. However, without proper guidance, young people may stumble into challenges including inaccurate information, data security risks, and a growing reliance on AI over their own critical thinking.
From setting clear usage boundaries to teaching digital hygiene and promoting independent thought, this guide offers parents and educators practical advice on the safe, positive use of AI. With the right understanding and guidance, you can ensure that generative AI becomes a positive influence, rather than a potential pitfall in young people’s digital lives
2025 Theme: Unapologetically Autistic
This is not a phase. It’s who we are.
For Autistic Pride Day 2025, our theme is simple, powerful, and uncompromising: Unapologetically Autistic. It’s a statement — and a refusal. A refusal to mask, to shrink, to justify, or to explain. It’s a declaration that Autistic people are not here to perform neurotypical expectations — we are here to exist, thrive, lead, create, and live on our own terms.
Why “Unapologetically Autistic”?
For too long, Autistic people have been expected to adjust, suppress, or erase who we are in order to access education, work, healthcare, or community. We’ve been told to tone it down. To make others comfortable. To hide our movements, moderate our passions, soften our truths. Not anymore.
This year’s theme is about taking up space — boldly, joyfully, and without shame. It’s about recognising that we don’t need permission to be Autistic — we never did.
This Campaign is for: Autistic people who have masked their entire lives just to survive Kids who are still being told to “sit still” instead of being understood
Adults who were diagnosed late, after a lifetime of feeling out of place Families, carers, educators, and allies who want to support without trying to fix
Every Autistic person, everywhere, who is ready to live without apology #UnapologeticallyAutistic
STROOD ACADEMY TRANSITION DAY
We are excited to welcome your child to Strood Academy this September. To support a smooth transition, we have arranged a special Transition Day on Thursday 3rd July 2025.
Your child should arrive between 9:00am and 9:15am (not before 9:00am due to limited parking) and will be greeted at the main gates by staff. They should wear their Primary School PE kit, bring a packed lunch, and plenty to drink. Mobile phones will not be needed. Students will register in the Restaurant and discover their college placement for September. The day will include a mix of PE and subject sessions.
We also invite parents and carers to a Welcome Meeting with our Leadership Team at 2:15pm. Please arrive from 2:00pm; the meeting will end at 2:45pm.
If your child cannot attend Transition Day, please email transition@stroodacademy.org by Friday 27th June.
Year 7 have continued to flourish as we progress through the final module of the academic year. They have settled into academy life with confidence, demonstrating increasing maturity, resilience, and enthusiasm for learning. Their positive attitude, strong engagement in lessons, and growing involvement in extracurricular activities reflect the solid foundations they’ve built since September. We are incredibly proud of the progress they’ve made—both academically and socially—and look forward to seeing them finish their first year at Strood Academy on a high.
Year 8 students have shown impressive growth as they near the end of their second year at Strood Academy. They have developed greater independence, embraced higher expectations, and continued to build on the strong foundations laid in Year 7. Their commitment to learning, increased participation in academy life, and positive contributions to the school community have been clear throughout this module. We are proud of their progress and look forward to seeing them carry this momentum into Year 9.
Year 9 have demonstrated maturity and focus as they approach the end of this academic year, showing they are ready for the exciting challenge ahead. Throughout this final module, they have continued to make strong academic progress, while also growing in confidence and responsibility. As they prepare to begin their GCSE journey next year, we are proud of the solid foundation they have built and are confident they will rise to the opportunities and expectations of Key Stage 4.
Year 10 have shown remarkable growth throughout their first year of GCSE courses, developing both academically and personally as they’ve adapted to the demands of Key Stage 4. Their increasing confidence, focus, and subject knowledge have been evident across the year. We are especially proud of the hard work and dedication they demonstrated during their first formal round of mock exams—approaching them with maturity and determination. As they prepare to enter Year 11, they do so with a strong foundation and the resilience needed to succeed in their final year.
Year 11 have officially completed their exams, and we couldn’t be prouder of their hard work and perseverance. We now look forward to joining them for Prom on Friday 4th July, and again on Thursday 21st August for Results Day.
Our Sixth Form students have continued to impress us with their dedication, maturity, and ambition. Year 12 have made fantastic progress throughout their first year, growing in independence, confidence, and academic strength as they adapt to the demands of post-16 study. We are equally proud of our Year 13 students, who are now concluding their exams and preparing to take their next exciting steps—whether in higher education, apprenticeships, or the world of work. Their commitment and resilience have been exceptional, and we look forward to seeing all they go on to achieve.
