Principal's Message

Mr Jon Richardson - Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope this message finds you well. I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support and engagement with Strood Academy. Your partnership is invaluable, and together we are creating a nurturing and stimulating environment for our students.

This week has indeed been a busy one, particularly with Year 11 and Year 13 examinations still ongoing for many of our pupils. These assessments are critical milestones in their educational journey. I have been consistently impressed by our students’ dedication, perseverance, and resilience during this demanding period. It has been encouraging to witness their commitment as they approach their exams with focus and determination. Additionally, we had the pleasure of representing our academy in the Leigh Academies Trust football tournaments, where both our boys’ and girls’ teams displayed not only impressive skill but also outstanding sportsmanship. Their enthusiasm and teamwork truly exemplified the spirit of Strood Academy.

I am absolutely thrilled to announce that, after 18 months of tireless effort and collaboration, Strood Academy has been awarded the Leading Parent Partnership Award. This nationally recognised achievement is a testament to the exceptional collaboration we have forged with our local community, parents, and stakeholders. This award acknowledges the hard work and commitment from all involved in building strong relationships that support our students’ education. I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all staff who contributed to this substantial effort, as well as to our parents and community members for their unwavering support. This accomplishment marks yet another memorable chapter in the record-breaking history of our academy.

As we look ahead to next week, our calendar is packed with exciting events with two reviews taking place in both English and Geography. We are very much looking forward to showcasing our excellent progress within both curriculum areas. Furthermore, we have the distinct privilege of welcoming the Seoul Board of Education to the academy for a tour in the afternoon. This visit will not only strengthen our international ties but also provide an exceptional opportunity for our students and staff.

Finally, on Thursday will see us holding an introductory meeting for our foreign exchange pupils from Korea. This gathering promises to provide an enriching cultural experience for our entire school community as we embrace the diversity that our new students bring.

As always, we look forward to welcoming all pupils back to the academy on Monday at 8:00 am. Please be reminded that the main gate will close promptly at 8:30 am. We encourage all parents and carers to ensure that students arrive on time to maximise their learning opportunities.

I wish you all a restful and enjoyable weekend, filled with moments of joy and relaxation with your families. Thank you once again for your steadfast support of Strood Academy, as it truly makes a difference in the lives of our students.

Yours sincerely,

Mr Jon Richardson

As we approach the midway point of the second year of Vision 2028, we take this opportunity to reflect on the significant strides we have made as a community. Together, we have worked tirelessly to create a nurturing and dynamic environment that supports our students in every aspect of their education and development.

One of our key achievements has been the successful introduction and embedding of essential routines that provide structure and consistency for our students. Morning line-ups, for instance, have helped instill a sense of discipline and readiness for the day ahead, while the implementation of an effective assembly protocol has fostered a collective sense of purpose and belonging. These routines are now integral to the fabric of our school culture, setting a strong foundation for learning and personal growth.

Equally, we have focused on enriching our students’ experiences beyond the classroom. By offering a wide array of lunchtime and after-school clubs and activities, we have encouraged students to explore their interests, develop their talents, and build confidence. From sports teams and creative arts workshops to academic enrichment sessions, these extracurricular opportunities have not only cultivated a love for learning but also strengthened our sense of community and teamwork.

In addition, we have taken significant steps to enhance communication and collaboration with parents and carers, recognizing their vital role in our students’ success. Events such as face-to-face Parents’ Evenings and Parent Voice Forums have created meaningful platforms for dialogue and partnership. These initiatives have allowed us to better understand the needs of our families, celebrate achievements together, and work collaboratively toward common goals.

We are incredibly proud of all we have accomplished so far, and while we acknowledge that we are still at the early stages of our Vision 2028 journey, the progress we have made fills us with optimism and determination. This vision represents our collective ambition to shape a brighter future for our school community, and we are committed to building on these foundations with unwavering focus and dedication.

We are excited about the opportunities that lie ahead and the milestones we will achieve together. We look forward to celebrating every success, big or small, and to continuing to inspire and empower our students to reach their full potential. The journey is just beginning, and the best is yet to come.
