Challenge Partners Success
We are delighted to share with you the full report from our recent visit by Challenge Partners, which has provided us with invaluable insights into our academy's performance and achievements. We are pleased to announce that the academy received a judgement of LEADING in both the areas of Leadership and Quality of Provision. This marks a significant milestone in our journey, as it is the first time we have achieved such a commendable report, highlighting the remarkable strengths we possess as a community. The dedication and hard work of our teaching and administrative staff have clearly shone through, and I am incredibly proud of the effort that everyone has put in. Furthermore, our academy was accredited for an area of excellence in Behaviour and Attitudes, which solidifies the exceptional culture of learning we have fostered, emphasising respect and cooperation among all members of our academy community.

February Attendance Incentive
We are excited to announce our attendance incentive for this module! There will be a KS3 draw and a KS4 draw on Thursday 13th February, where students have the chance to win a £50 Hangloose voucher or a £30 Gravity voucher (there are two prizes per key stage). Entries are based on 100% attendance for the module and 100% punctuality each week. Good luck to you all!
Online Basic Bullying Training for Parents / Carers
This online course is for parents / carers who would like to learn more about what bullying is and how to support their children and young people who may be experiencing bullying.
We do provide signposting to other services and support for parents / carers to help support children and young people who may be experiencing bullying following the training.
By the end of this session, you will have an understanding of:
- What is bullying? - Cyber bullying & signs
- Bullying dynamics - Who is affected?
- Why do people bully? - Signs of bullying
- Effects of bullying - What can we do?
- Supporting children against bullies - Who else can support
Kooth and QWELL
Kooth is available in Medway for 10–25-year-olds
QWELL is available in Medway for 18+ year olds
Both Kooth and QWELL support CYP and young adults online in relation to their mental health and emotional wellbeing.

However, along with its enormous userbase comes a significant number of possible risks: Ofcom have dubbed it the most likely app on which teen users would potentially suffer harm.
With the platform reaching astronomical levels of success among the younger generation, it’s vitally important for parents and educators to understand the risks it poses. This guide lets you know about the most prominent potential dangers associated with TikTok and offers expert advice on how to safeguard youngsters who are navigating the site.
Year 4, 5 and 6 Transition Events
At Strood Academy, we are committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition for Primary students who are currently in Years 4, 5 and 6 and we believe it is vital to maintain early relationships with both parents and students.
To achieve this, we are running a series of weekly sessions from our subject areas. These will run every Wednesday between 4pm and 5pm. For further information, including the timetable, please see the attached letter.

Year 8 Parents Evening - shared 13/01/25
Year 9 students at Strood Academy have shown impressive growth and determination during Module 3, as they begin to make more informed choices about their academic pathways. Their engagement with challenging topics has been notable, with many demonstrating increased independence and critical thinking in their approach to learning. The students have embraced opportunities to deepen their understanding across subjects, showcasing creativity and a willingness to take on new challenges. Their collaboration and respect for peers have contributed to a supportive classroom atmosphere, encouraging everyone to thrive. This focus and dedication highlight their readiness for the next stage of their educational journey.
We encourage students to begin having conversations, both with teachers and parents and carers at home, regarding GCSE Option Choices and the route they would like to take, which best aligns with their future plans. We will soon be sharing more information regarding Year 9 Parents and Options Evening, where students are able to continue these conversations with their subject teachers.
Duke of Edinburgh Letter - shared 12/11/24
Year 10 students at Strood Academy have shown impressive dedication and maturity during Module 3 as they continue to navigate the demands of their GCSE courses. Their focus and resilience in tackling challenging content have been commendable, with many students demonstrating a clear commitment to achieving their best. They have taken greater ownership of their learning, seeking feedback and acting on it to make meaningful improvements. The quality of their classwork and assessments reflects their growing confidence and ability to apply knowledge effectively. Their collaborative approach and willingness to support peers have fostered a positive learning environment, setting a strong foundation for success in their studies.

The Sixth Form students at Strood Academy have shown great commitment and maturity during Module 3, demonstrating their focus on academic success and personal growth. Year 12 students have embraced the challenge of their A-level and vocational courses with enthusiasm, developing their independence and critical thinking skills. Meanwhile, Year 13 students have displayed a commendable work ethic as they prepare for their mock examinations, utilizing revision strategies and seeking support to strengthen their understanding. Their dedication to balancing revision with coursework and other responsibilities highlights their resilience and determination. Across the Sixth Form, students continue to set a positive example, creating a focused and supportive environment that reflects their aspirations for future success.
