Year 10 Hospitality and Catering Practical
Our Year 10 H&C students cooked their first 'complex' skill (grade L2 Distinction/ GCSE) practical last week. They were all amazing and the cakes were delicious despite a few occasional cracks.
We have included the recipe and instructions if you wish to try it at home too. It would easily convert into a Yule/Christmas log with a layer of chocolate butter icing, sprinkling of icing sugar.
Happy Christmas everyone!
Year 10 Careers Visit
Last week, a group of Year 10 students Ledian Gardens Retirement Village, where they completed a range of activities from pizza, cookie and mocktail making, to meeting the residents.
Feedback was that all students engaged well with the tasks, and some were placed in groups with students from New Line Learning Academy without any issues. While it can sometimes be hard for schools to mix, Strood Academy set a very good example which was noted by the other coaches. Several students asked questions throughout the day, and they all engaged well when talking to residents. Both Kemi (Business Partnership Manager for Kent) & Mark (Practice Manager for Kent) were very complimentary about the students recruited!
An amazing day all round!

Girls Netball Success
The Year 7 and 8 netballers were in action on Tuesday against the Rochester Independent School, and with some students making their Netball debuts the team put on a superb performance in an emphatic win for the girls. Player of match was awarded to debutant Kyla in Year 7!
Year 7 English Debate
This week in English, Year 7 have been focusing on the skill of debating. Here, you can see 7t3 engaging in a debate on "whether mobile phones should be banned for under 16s". Students applied themselves well, articulating their ideas clearly and exercising critical thinking skills. Well done Year 7!
