Southeastern Railways Workshop
On Wednesday 6th November, members of staff from South Eastern railways came into Strood Academy to deliver a presentation to the Year 10 FutureMe students about the opportunities within the organisation. Students who attended the session engaged with the activities and asked some great questions. Some students have already shown an interest in attending an assessment day that we hope to arrange in the Spring term.
Feedback from parents was excellent, and we thank parents and carers for engaging so well with this and supporting the running of this session.
Feedback from Kemi, the session leader, was that Strood Academy students are engaged and already remembering some of the 7 Work Ready Capabilities we focus on throughout the programme. Well done to you all!
Hercules Rewards
During lineups this week, these Year 9 and 10 students were rewarded for having the most positive behaviour points in the whole of Hercules college. A huge well done to Bella, Scarlette, Lily-Mae, Teddy, Jay, Finley, Daniel and Jack - keep up the good work!
Year 9 Safety Roadshow
On Monday, Kent Police and a variety of organisations visited Strood Academy to educate Year 9 students on various safety topics. The visit included presentations on the Prevent Strategy, missing persons, mental health resources like Kooth, sexual health, child-centered policing, knife crime, and the dangers of drugs and alcohol. To lighten the mood and enhance the experience, Robbie White, known for his role in Netflix's Heartstopper, provided intermittent musical performances throughout the day.
We would like to thank all involved in facilitating this event, as well as our students who engaged well and made us so proud.
KS3 Girls Football Debut
On a very chilly Thursday evening in Chatham, our KS3 Girls Football team debuted the 2024/25 season with an absolute goal fest against Victory Academy with a 13-0 win!
After quite an eventful start to the journey, we played two halves of 25 minutes which saw some beautiful football played. The girls' hard work and dedication during training has paid off! Goal scorers included Esme x2, Phoebe x5....YES FIVE, Bella A x2, Bella B and Elisha x3. Not forgetting our goal keeper Ella who walked away with a clean sheet.
Well done girls, we are so proud and cannot wait to celebrate your future successes!
