Week Commencing 11/11/24 Module 2 2024-2025
Mr Jon Richardson - Principal
Dear Parents and Carers,
I trust this correspondence finds you in good health. As we conclude another week at our academy, I wish to express my sincere appreciation for your continued support and collaboration in fostering our students’ educational development.
This week commenced with a significant observance as we gathered on Monday to hold a two-minute silence at 11am in commemoration of Remembrance Day. The entire academy community convened on the astro turf, welcoming esteemed members of the local community, including veterans and military personnel. This profoundly poignant occasion served as an important reminder of the sacrifices made by those who have served, allowing our students to engage in reflection upon the values of courage, unity, and respect. It was truly inspiring to witness our pupils demonstrating such reverence during this solemn moment.
I am pleased to announce commendable news regarding our Year 11 football team, who secured a notable victory against Waterfront UTC on Monday. This triumph has advanced them into the semi-final fixture, which is scheduled for next week against Howard School. As we prepare to support our team, I extend my best wishes for their upcoming match. I would also like to express gratitude to our Physical Education team for their unwavering dedication in facilitating our students’ sporting success.
This week has also seen our Year 11 and Year 13 students actively participating in their mock examinations. I wish to take this opportunity to commend all pupils for their exceptional resilience, diligence, and commitment throughout this demanding week. It is vital that our students recognise these mock examinations not only as preparation for their forthcoming assessments but also as a valuable opportunity for personal growth and academic reflection.
On Tuesday, we had the privilege of hosting a visit from Concorde International, as we prepare to welcome a group of Korean students for an enriching two-week exchange programme in January 2025. This initiative will provide an excellent opportunity for cultural dialogue and international friendship, allowing our students to embrace and share their diverse cultures whilst learning from one another's experiences.
Furthermore, on Thursday, we were honoured to welcome our CEO, Mr. Simon Beamish, to the academy. He took time to visit various lessons and observe the commendable work being undertaken by our pupils. This visit served as an excellent opportunity to showcase the high standards of learning and commitment that characterise our academy, and I am immensely proud of our students for their dedication and perseverance.
As we anticipate the onset of colder weather, I would like to take this opportunity to remind all students to dress appropriately by wearing suitable coats to school. This prudent measure will ensure their comfort during their journeys, as well as during outdoor activities throughout break and lunch periods. Your support in reinforcing this message at home is greatly valued.
In conclusion, I wish you all a restful and restorative weekend. Your continued involvement in our academy community plays a vital role, and together, we are fostering an environment in which our students can thrive both academically and personally.
Yours sincerely,
Mr. Jon Richardson

As we enter the new academic year, we have come together as a community to reflect on all we have achieved so far. This includes:
Introducing and embedding routines for students such as morning line ups and the assembly protocol
Promoting students' extra curricular interests and hobbies through a range of lunchtime and after school clubs and activities
Further improving communication with parents and carers through events such as face-to-face Parents Evenings and Parent Voice Forums
We are immensely proud of the progress we have made so far, and while acknowledging that we are still at the very beginning of our Vision 2028 journey, we are looking forward to the successes we will continue to achieve along the way. We look forward to our second year of Vision 2028 and cannot wait to celebrate all we will achieve.
