Week 2
Module 5 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to express my thanks for your continued support and engagement with our academy community.
It has been an eventful week at Leigh Academy Strood, and I am excited to share some significant highlights and developments with you.
This week, we successfully launched the ‘Digital Bridge’, our innovative online session designed specifically to support parents in understanding Google Suite and the various technologies we utilise within the academy. The session was exceptionally well attended, particularly by many of our new Year 7 parents who are set to join us in September 2026. It was encouraging to see such enthusiasm and commitment from our parents, as it reflects the strong partnership we have built with you.
In addition to this, we continued our outreach programme, welcoming children from Bligh Junior School for a variety of engaging sessions. This initiative has fostered a powerful and collaborative relationship with our largest feeder primary school, and we are excited about the opportunities this presents for our students as they transition into secondary education.
Furthermore, we held welcome events for our new Year 7 and Year 12 cohorts, which were incredibly well attended. It is truly delightful to witness the positive pupil numbers for the upcoming academic year, which speaks volumes about the reputation of our academy and the dedication of our staff.
On Thursday, we hosted our Year 7 Parents’ Evening, where it was a pleasure to welcome so many families and receive such constructive and purposeful feedback. Your insights are invaluable as we strive to enhance the educational experience for all our students.
Additionally, our Year 10 and Year 11 Dance and Drama performances were nothing short of exceptional. These events showcased our pupils’ dedication, creativity, and immense talent. I would like to extend my sincere thanks to our amazing Performing Arts team for their hard work and commitment in bringing these performances to life. It is a joy to see our students excel in their passions and express themselves through the arts.
We continue to welcome visitors for our tours every Friday from 9:30 to 10:30. If you wish to join us, please do; it is always a pleasure to share our academy with parents and provide insights into our educational environment.
I would also like to express my heartfelt thanks for your generous donations to Think Forward. As many of you know, I ran the London Marathon on Sunday, and I have been truly overwhelmed by your support and encouragement throughout this journey.
As we approach the Bank Holiday weekend, I wish you all the best and hope you enjoy this time with your families.
We look forward to welcoming pupils back on Tuesday, ready for another exciting week.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Jon Richardson
Principal

Encourage your child to think about where they might make mistakes before starting a task. Anticipating challenges helps them work more carefully and confidently.
Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award, and the Highest Reward Points across different year groups.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
