Week 4
Module 3 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for your continued support.
This week, we welcomed our colleagues from the International Baccalaureate as part of our re-authorisation process. We are delighted with the exceptional feedback, which highlighted pupil care, an inclusive environment, and a sense of belonging. Our colleagues were especially pleased to celebrate the culture of ambition at Leigh Academy Strood and the achievements the academy continues to make. Well done to all involved.
Our pupils received assemblies from Mr Harpur this week on Holocaust Memorial Day, where an incredibly moving story of survival was shared. It was a very powerful assembly. Next week, we are extremely fortunate that four Year 12 pupils will be visiting Auschwitz with Mr Nash, providing a remarkable experience for them.
Additionally, our Year 10 pupils received a further assembly related to the series on metacognition, this time focusing on the ‘articulation of writing’.
We have also seen many fixtures in both football and basketball, and it is a pleasure to witness our pupils thriving in these areas.
On Thursday, our Year 11 Hospitality and Catering pupils embraced their practical examination, and their work is truly exceptional. Well done to all.
Furthermore, we welcomed Year 6 pupils from Bligh Junior School to our academy to learn more about our engagement curriculum ahead of joining us in September 2026. We are delighted with this successful ongoing partnership.
Next week, we look forward to welcoming MP Lauren Edwards to work with our GCSE Citizenship students, which will be a fantastic opportunity for them.
Thank you all for your continued support.
Sending best wishes for a restful weekend.
Mr Jon Richardson
Principal
Leigh Academy Strood
Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award, the Highest Reward Points across different year groups, and the MYP Thinker Award.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
