Week 5
Module 2 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your continued support.
It has been wonderful to observe our pupils thriving in their lessons this week. We are also delighted to report that we have participated in two badminton tournaments hosted by the Leigh Academy Trust.
Throughout the week, there have been several notable events, including a Year 10 focus assembly on metacognition, emphasising the importance of revision and knowledge retention. Additionally, we had the pleasure of taking over 100 Year 7 pupils to the Marlowe Theatre last night. Although it was a late evening, the memories created will last a lifetime.
As we approach the end of the module, I would like to remind you that we will break up on Friday, 19th December, and return to the academy on Tuesday, 6th January. Please note that Monday, 5th January, is an INSET day for staff.
On Friday, 19th December, we will celebrate with pupils during their college celebration assemblies, marking the conclusion of a busy module. Pupils will be dismissed at the earlier time of 1:30 pm. We have informed our local bus companies, so please ensure that any necessary travel arrangements are adjusted accordingly.
We will also be hosting a Christmas lunch on Friday, 19th December, for pupils who wish to participate. They are encouraged to embrace the festive spirit by wearing a Christmas jumper underneath their academy blazer, while still adhering to the requirement of full school uniform.
Next week, we look forward to welcoming Year 11 pupils and their parents on Wednesday to the Mock Results Afternoon, commencing at 4 pm in the Main Hall, with results to be collected in the Sports Hall. Your attendance is highly valued, as these discussions are crucial for pupils as they continue their preparations.
On Thursday, we will also welcome our Year 13 pupils and parents for both Mock Results and Parents’ Evening. I would like to extend my gratitude to our colleagues for providing detailed feedback to support our pupils during this critical period of the academic year.
Thank you once again for your continued support.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Jon Richardson
Principal
Leigh Academy Strood
Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award, the Highest Reward Points across different year groups, and the MYP Thinker Award.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
