Week 4
Module 1 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
What an incredibly vibrant and productive week it has been at Leigh Academy Strood.
Our students have truly excelled in a range of sporting events, demonstrating fantastic teamwork and spirit in both Netball and Football fixtures. Beyond the pitch, we've broadened horizons with a stimulating Think Forward trip and an insightful visit to the University of Kent, giving our students a taste of future possibilities. Our Geography field trip also provided valuable hands-on learning outside the classroom.
A special thank you to all the parents and students who made our Year 10 ‘Welcome to GCSE’ evening such a success. It was wonderfully attended and set a fantastic tone for the year ahead.
We're also thrilled to announce the arrival of our second brand new mini-bus! This addition will greatly enhance our ability to facilitate trips and activities.
This week marked the beginning of our Open Mornings, and it has been an absolute pleasure to welcome visitors and showcase the wonderful environment of our academy. The feedback has been incredibly positive, and we are so grateful to our students and staff for making everyone feel so welcome. These continue until the end of the module every Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday morning from 9:30 - 11:00.
Looking ahead, we are eagerly preparing for our Open Evening next Thursday. We are excited to welcome many prospective families and showcase the very best of what our academy has to offer. We look forward to welcoming families from 4pm - 7pm.
Finally, next Thursday and Friday, we will be hosting a Lead Reviewer as we work towards achieving the Inclusion Quality Mark, a testament to our commitment to inclusive practices for all our students. We look forward to sharing the final report with you in due course.
Thank you for your continued support and we look forward to welcoming pupils back on Monday morning from 8am. Please be reminded that the gate closes at 8:30am.
Sending best wishes for a restful weekend,
Mr Jon Richardson

Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award, the Highest Reward Points across different year groups, and the MYP Thinker Award.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
