Week 2
Module 1 2025-26
Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to take this opportunity to express my sincere gratitude for your continued support.
This week has been particularly inspiring as I have had the pleasure of visiting various lessons across the academy. It was heartening to see our pupils so deeply engaged in their learning activities, displaying not only enthusiasm but also a remarkable thirst for knowledge. Their dedication to their studies is commendable and truly reflects our collective commitment to high educational standards. I am proud of the hard work our teachers put in to create such an engaging and stimulating learning atmosphere.
Furthermore, I have been thrilled to observe the wide array of clubs and extracurricular opportunities that our pupils have embraced this week. Participation in these activities plays a crucial role in their development, allowing them the chance to explore their interests outside of the classroom. I would like to commend all pupils for their active involvement and enthusiasm, which adds to the vibrant school community we are building together.
On Wednesday, we had the privilege of inviting our Year 4, Year 5, and Year 6 pupils into the academy for a PE session. It was truly a joy to witness their participation, characterised by an abundance of enthusiasm and excitement. Such moments reinforce the importance of physical education in fostering a well-rounded education and promoting teamwork and cooperation amongst peers.
Our Year 7 pupils continue to settle into their new environment remarkably well. Their ability to adapt and embrace this transition speaks volumes about their character and resilience. Similarly, our Year 12 students are immersing themselves into their new programmes of study with a commendable level of engagement and motivation. It is wonderful to see them flourish in this next phase of their educational journey.
I would also like to extend my appreciation for your cooperation concerning our parking arrangements. In my previous communication, I raised concerns about the traffic around the academy during peak times. I am grateful for your support in this matter. It is encouraging to note that, by working collaboratively and considering alternative parking options slightly further away, we are creating a safer environment for our pupils as they arrive and leave the academy. Your efforts play a significant role in ensuring the safety and well-being of our students.
Additionally, we were delighted to host an information evening for our Year 11 parents and pupils regarding their journey through Year 11. It was wonderful to see such an excellent turnout and engagement from all attendees. I appreciate the valuable input and questions raised during the evening, which highlighted the commitment of our parents and carers to their children’s success.
Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome the parents and pupils of Year 12 and Year 13 for information evenings on Wednesday. These meetings will prepare them for the educational challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We are eager to engage with you as partners in ensuring that our students have the support and resources they need to thrive this academic year. We also look forward to welcoming our community board to the academy, whose ongoing support and expertise significantly contribute to our continued development and progress. Their guidance is vital as we strive for excellence.
I would also like to remind everyone that we have our academy photo day scheduled for next Friday.
If you have any questions or require further assistance, please do not hesitate to reach out to the academy via your child's college. You can find the relevant contact information here: Contact Us. We value your feedback and are here to support you in any way we can.
Once again, thank you for your unwavering support and active involvement in your child’s education. I wish you a restful and enjoyable weekend, and we look forward to welcoming pupils back to the academy on Monday from 8:00 am. Please remember that the main gate will close promptly at 8:30 am to ensure a smooth start to the day.
Yours sincerely,
Mr Jon Richardson

Strood Stars is our weekly celebration of students who go above and beyond at Leigh Academy Strood. Each week, awards are given for achievements such as the Principal’s Award, the Head of College Award, the Highest Reward Points across different year groups, and the MYP Thinker Award.
These awards are a really important part of life at our academy. They recognise students who work hard, show great behaviour, and demonstrate our values of being respectful, resilient, inquisitive, and kind. By celebrating these successes, Strood Stars inspires everyone to aim high and be the very best version of themselves.
It is not just about individual recognition—it helps bring our colleges and whole school community together, creating a positive atmosphere where achievements are noticed and celebrated.
🎥 We asked our Year 7 students about their first week at Leigh Academy Strood… here’s what they had to say! 💬✨ It’s been wonderful to see them settling in, making new friends, and embracing all the opportunities ahead. 💙
